Chapter 196
RIAGHAIRE
Beatrice was kept at Kaleidoscope; with Claire’s protections active, it meant she had a better chance of survival and Riaghaire wasn’t about to disagree with anything meant to help his gréine.
His trust in Claire had snuck up on him, something he’d only realized the night they’d confronted the Council. Looking back, it wasn’t surprising that ind happened, he just hadn’t taken notice until after the fact. Then there was the rest of the Kaleidoscope staff. Not that he trusted them with his or his greine’s life, but he did trust them not to turn around and stab them in the back. Which was saying a fair bit, all things considered.
Maybe there was more to putting one’s trust in a being like Gaml, if only for the community that came with it.
Riaghaire was told of what had happened after he’d left Bluemoon pack lands, including when he’d rejoined the fight as his memory of that particular time was a blur. He was somewhat surprised he’d torn through so many wolves as fast as they said he had it was a personal best.
The Council had fled, most likely due to the fact three of their enforcers had been killed. Cowards. All of them were cowards. But they hadn’t escaped unscathed either – at least according to Alpha Donovan and his daughter.
The spell used to enlarge the enforcer wolves was of fae origin; that meant the Council had solicited a fae to acquire it. This was a big no-no in the wolf community, not to mention against the laws the Council itself was meant to uphold; no wolf could solicit the magical aid of another species. They could work alongside them in other ways, but purchasing, owning, or using those spells? Hard no.
Alpha Donovan explained that they were led to believe that enforcer wolves were born that way – larger than life – and thus anyone with a bigger than average wolf had the potential to become one. It was considered a great honour to be chosen. Except now that he’d had a chance to dissect what that means. the Alpha had come to the realization that what they’d been told made little to no sense.
Riaghaire couldn’t help but smirk. They were such pack animals, following their leaders without question. It was pathetic. Because of this, the Shee pack was a shell of its former self – not that it mattered. There had been seven enforcers present that night – one for each Elder. Four had pursari egual pack members after Hendricks’ wolf had gone rogue, calling his wolves to battle. It was why his Gamma hadn’t been present when Kalevipa arrived at the amphitheatre. He’d only been able to return once his Alpha’s wolf had receded – due to the rejection human half.

Word had gotten out to the other packs, of how the Council had attacked the Bluemoon pack without provocations information to better push a specific narrative and suddenly Alpha Donovan was busy answering calls and turning showed up after everything was said and done, saying they always thought things weren’t quite right. Then why had would demand Why wait until the hard part was over?
