Chapter 210

“Then they hope the daughter has pups, both male, so the youngest can inherent the granddad’s pack.”

“That’s so dumb,” Beatrice repeated, as if saying it more than once would make it better. It didn’t. “So, what if you find your fated mate and he doesn’t w to move, because that’s how it’s always been?”

Avery was quiet for a moment, her brow creased with a frown. “Well… I suppose we won’t end up together. I’ve wanted to inherit the Mchezaji pack for a long as I can remember, and being born a girl meant it would never happen. I’m not letting anyone get in the way of that.”

“Even your fated mate? I’ve seen what it can do to a person.” It wasn’t that Beatrice thought the she-wolf would change her mind, but hearing about the bond and experiencing it were two very different things.

“If my fated mate can’t understand that this means the world to me, then he shouldn’t be my fate to begin with,” Avery reply, voice heavy with

determination.

“Good,” Beatrice nodded. It would be good if an actual she-wolf stood up against the usual bullshit forced upon them. Coming from one of their own wou make a bigger impact than from some random human.

Claire and Avery ended up chatting, leaving Beatrice to lean against Riaghaire without needing to pay attention to the conversation. The vampire wrapped an arm around her without a word, holding her close as though he knew that was what she’d hoped would happen.

They arrived at Claire’s soon enough and, before getting out of the car, Beatrice leaned forward to address the she-wolf. “You know, I was thinking. If you’ worried about your fated mate wanting you to move to him, instead of the other way around, why not see if he’s one of those lone wolves? Then he proba wouldn’t have an issue joining your pack and you wouldn’t have to worry about pressure from his family about ‘tradition’.”

Avery’s eyes were wide as she regarded the human. “I… I’ve never thought about that. We usually just let lone wolves be, since it’s what they want, but you’re right. Maybe that’s why I haven’t met my fated mate yet. If he’s a lone wolf, it would explain why we haven’t crossed paths.”

“Exactly,” Beatrice agreed. “So if you have a list or whatever of lone wolves it might be a good idea to see if any of them are your fated mate

Without warning, Avery pulled the human into a bone crushing hug, “Thank you, Beatrice.”

“You’re welcome,” Beatrice managed to squeeze out before she was released from the vice grip of a hug.

“Seriously. Thank you. For everything.”

“Yeah, yeah,” Beatrice grumbled, rolling her eyes as she slid out of the cat ‘I’ve been adopted by your pack so just sit as family being family whatever. It’s not that big a deal.”

“Does that mean I can call you my sister?” Avery asked a smirk spreading over her face

“Fuck no,” Beatrice snapped before stammysg the car door shut

Avery laughed while Claire let out a short “Thanks for driving home. the blond called out as she began pushing teatre’s howards the front door lit a lower voice, she continued, “Honestly, Bea, you are impossible

“Hey. I was very nice back there,” Beatrice huffed “You can’t deny I was being nice

“I’m not saying you weren’t but you didn’t have to be so adamant about shutting down the sister thing”

“Seriously? She laughed! It was a perfectly acceptable response.”

Claire rolled her eyes as she stepped inside. “Yeah, sure. Let’s go with that.”
