Chapter 213
RIAGHAIRE
Riaghaire watched the women eat their evening meal, enjoying the aroma of the food even though he couldn’t partake. They were discussing things didn’t concern him, which gave him a chance to lose himself in thought.
His gréine was back at his side, which allowed him to relax until he realized what the future might hold for them.
Beatrice was smart, she was aware of the enemies she’d made along the way, and how all of them were Others. i also meant that, so long as she kep around, her life would never return to how it’d been. She could leave, move far away where none knew who she was and settle down as a normal hur
unless he followed.
With him present, Others would take note of her existence and may react in the same fashion as Master Edyth.
It worried Riaghaire greatly.
He’d been so lost in thought that, when a gentle tap on his shoulder startled him back to reality, his reaction was to jumped to his feet and whip aro face whomever had dared lay a hand on him. It had been his gréine, who was now giving him an odd look. Her scent told Riaghaire he’d scared her wi he’d responded to the touch, causing guilt to wash over him.
“Gréine… You startled me,” he explained, keeping his voice soft as he forced his body to relax. “It was not… I apologize if I scared you.” He knew bette to point out he’d noticed her fear. His human hid a great many of her feelings behind a bold and sarcastic front; if she remembered he could discern ti truth by her scent, she might return to using that horrible perfume.
“You’re fine,” she assured him, a smile on her face, but he could hear her heart beating faster than normal. “I probably shouldn’t have snuck up on you
Had she, though? He’d been so lost in thought she could have waved a hand in his face and he wouldn’t have seen a thing. Raghaire nodded anyway. allowing his gréine to brush his reaction off as something normal – something that wasn’t dangerous.

“Feel like sharing what’s on your mind?,” she asked after a moment, her green eyes looking at him as though she were searching for some hadův i tragar
Riaghaire pondered her question for a moment then shook his head. “It is nothing worth mentioning.”
“Alright, if you say so.” Her tone told him she didn’t quite believe what he’d said but she wouldn’t press further.

Chapter 213-
Without a word she took his hand in hers and led him to their bedroom. It seemed this wasn’t something to discuss where Claire could overhear. Once they were both inside she shut the door and leaned against it for a minute. Whatever was on her mind must have been weighing heavily on his gréine, as she was spending a fair amount of time gathering herself before starting the conversation. This only worried him more.
“So…,” she finally began as she pushed herself off the door and moved to stand before him. Riaghaire kept his eyes on her the entire time, taking note of every little thing – from her tone of voice down to her fingers fidgeting against the fabric of her pants.
