Take Me Once, I'll Bleed You Twice novel Chapter 214

Chapter 214

There was a meter of space between them, as if she needed to stay just out of reach. The distance was something Riaghaire could almost feel and it left h wanting to close the gap so he could hold her close, to reassure her that whatever she had to say wouldn’t change anything. Instead he stood still as a statue and allowed his human to dictate whether or not there would be physical closeness.

“Yes…?,” he prodded after a few seconds.

His gréine scrunched her face up just a bit, as though she’d eaten something sour, before letting out a sigh. “So. You remember what we talked about a wi

back?”

Riaghaire drew a blank. They’d talked about a great many things; which was she referring to? “Yes,” he nodded. A small lie, spoken in the hopes she woul reveal more without realizing he hadn’t a clue which specific conversation she had in mind.

“Well…,” she trailed off again before taking a deep breath. “I’ve decided that… None of it actually matters. The why or the how of it all, I mean. All that matters is that it happened and I’m fine with it.”

It was like she was speaking another language – one he didn’t understand – and expected him to know what she meant. Then again… if he knew which conversation was being discussed, he was certain her words would have made far more sense. “I see…,” was all he could think to say.

His gréine was watching him intently, as if waiting for him to say something more but what else was there?

“I… am unsure… which conversation you are referring to,” he finally admitted after she’d been staring at him for a while.

The corners of her mouth quirked upwards, as though she found this revelation amusing. Perhaps he should have been honest from the beginning, but he couldn’t be faulted for wanting to appear like he knew what was going on… could he?

Instead of answering, his gréine closed the distance between them. Riaghaire watched as she lifted her hands and pressed them against his chest, her finger idling tracing unknown patterns on his shirt. He stilled at the touch, his ming grinding to a halt for a moment.

His gréine’s fingers followed whatever pattern she had in her mind’s eye, moving upwards under they were on his shoulders; it wasn’t long before she had her arms wrapped around his neck. This was all done while maintaining eye contact and Riaghaire’s brain finally caught up, bringing with it an explanation for this sudden behaviour.

She’d once talked about her reservations on what was between them; that she was worried they’d been born from the trauma she’d experienced sud would fade once things settled – or so he recalled. If that was what she’d been referring to, then her words would make sense.

Did that mean she no longer had any doubts as to the reason behind those feelings? That all that mattered was how sb telt in this very moment *

“Yourhuven’t changed your mind, have you?,” she inquired. He could tell she was nervous. It wasn’t just in her scent or the sound of her racing heart, but those eyes of hers told him far more than he would ever say out loud.
