Chapter 35

“Let her go,” Tweedledick growled. “Take me in her place.”
“No,” the vampire replied, a smile in his voice. “She is not yours, yet you worry as if she were. Does that mean I am correct in assuming she belongs to the Alpha? Is she the Luna of your pack?” Riaghaire’s lips grazed her neck this time, as if he were about to nuzzle against it. “Are you their Luna, gréine?”
“Leave her alone,” roared the Beta, but Riaghaire didn’t so much as twitch. They all knew who was in charge of the situation and it wasn’t the werewolf.
“Allow me to make myself clear. You will not call your pack into the house above us,” Riaghaire instructed the Beta. “If you do, I will kih
her. Should any wolf attempt to give you aid, I will kill her. Do you understand?”
After taking a few seconds to clench and unclench his fists a number of times, Tweedledick finally nodded.
“Good. There is a she–wolf on the floor,” the vampire told him. “Take her into the open cell.”
Golden eyes flicked from Riaghaire to where Lora lay on the floor, then to the cell, and back again. “You…” he growled.
In response, the vampire tightened his grip on Beatrice’s throat a second time, only letting up once Tweedledick stopped growling. “You
have fifteen seconds.”
An angry noise came from the werewolf as he marched by, his eyes only looking away once he’d be forced to turn his head to keep them
in sight.
Picking up Lora’s unmoving body posed no issue for Tweedledick – his massive size handy for times like this. The Beta proceeded to step into Riaghaire’s cell, where he placed the she–wolf on the ground before turning to glare at the vampire.
“The key is in the door,” the vampire instructed, amusement in his voice. “Close it and lock yourself in, then toss me the key”
“You won’t get away with this,” Beta Benedict growled before doing as he was told, effectively imprisoning himself and the mard
If Beatrice thought she’d be freed now that the danger was over, she was wrong. Riaghaire didn’t loosen his hold on her even the slightest.
“Tell me… what will your Alpha do to keep his Luna alive?,” the vampire inquired as he shifted his stance so they were now facing the enraged werewolf.
The Beta didn’t respond, choosing instead to clench his fist so tight they began to shake.
“Mmm, yes, I thought so. An Alpha will destroy the world if it means protecting his Luna. So long as I have this beautiful, delectable human in my grasp, I can do as I please without consequence.”

Chapter 35
“He’ll hunt you down,” Tweedledick spat. “He’ll hunt you to the ends of the world and kill you.”
“Perhaps his grandfather should have done so upon my imprisonment,” muted the vampire “If he wishes to kill me he is welcome Many have attempted, as many to come will as well. Let him be one of those who try and fail to destroy The Righaire
Had he just referred to himself in the third person? Beatrice’s brain was stuck on that one detail, the rest seeming irrelevant in comparison. Was it because he hadn’t chosen the name for himself? Did he actually see himself as an executioner? Why was she so stuck on this one question when there were so many other things to fixate on and worry about?
“You will die by his hands, vampire. I promise you that.”
