Take Me Once, I'll Bleed You Twice novel Chapter 37

BEATRICE

56

How long the vampire ran with her on his shoulder Beatrice couldn’t say, only that it was long enough for her stomach to be very tender when he finally slowed to a stop. His bony shoulder, even covered by rags and a pair of pants, had been anything but comfortable.

Finally able to look ahead without craning her neck at an odd angle, Beatrice was glad to see the city where she lived or had lived was in view, lighting up the night sky with neon colours. Almost home, I think, she sighed, unsure what she was supposed to do now. Her apartment wasn’t an option. She had no desire to go back there only for the werewolves to break in and take her again.

Sunrise will be here within the hour,Riaghaire told her, drawing Beatrice’s attention. Had he been staring at her again?

Right. So, the sun thingis a thing?

More or less,he slowly nodded. It cannot kill me but, in my current state, it will bemore unpleasant than usual.

Noted. So, what’s the plan, then?

Riaghaire finally averted his gaze as he looked around. I must locate somewhere to stay during the day. Somewhere the wolves will not

find.

Easier said than done,Beatrice sighed again as she joined him in looking around. You knowI think I know where we are. Well, sort of. How far can you make it before the sun comes up? Like, ten kilometers? Twenty?

The vampire was back to staring at her with a blank look on his face. I amunsure.

Rightshe trailed off as she linked her hands behind her head. Well. How willing are you to take a chance?

That depends on what you mean by a chance.

I might know somewhere we can hide out for the day, somewhere they probably won’t think to look. The problem is, I can t guarantee we can get there before the sun comes up, especially if you’re, uhhungry? She’d noticed he hadn’t been moving as fast as when they d first escaped, and she attributed it to his needing more blood.

Beatrice would have preferred never needing to donate for this kind of thing but, it it meant they could stay ahead of the werewolves, she was more than willing to part ways with some for the sake of staying free.

Riaghaire tapped his chin with a finger as he mulled over some idea in his head If I am able to feed, how long would it take to reach this place you have in mind?

Half an hour? She offered. Thirty minutes should get us there, if you can move like you did when we first escaped.

Chapter 37

Very wellI will find something to feed on within fifteen minutes and return.

Beatrice blinked, surprised. He wasn’t going to drink her blood? Why? She almost felt insulted by his seeming disinterest in her as

What the fuck.

Before she could comment on this strange turn of events, the vampire was gone. Well then, she mumbled to herself as she looked around for somewhere to sit before deciding anywhere would do. What did she care if she dirtied her dress? Hell, she had fifteen minutes to waste, so why not have some fun with it?
