Chapter 83
RIAGHAIRE
Riaghaire hadn’t been expecting his gréine to thank him, let alone throw herself into his arms. It took a few seconds before he was able to react, care embracing her in return. Her hold on him only tightened and he could hear her breathing hitch every few seconds, as if she were holding back some s emotion. This caused him to further tighten his hold, hoping to give her some sort of comfort.
Normally, she would have never done this with him. The few times something had almost happened between them instances since they’d begun sharing a room
first at her mother’s, then a coup she’d been quick to move away. Whether it was due to the mate bond causing her problems or she wou simply prefer keeping things between the two of them less… complicated, Riaghaire didn’t know. The damn perfume she wore made figuring these thi out far more difficult than necessary.
Her hold on him began to loosen far too soon for the vampire’s liking and he reluctantly let her go. His gréine sat bark on the toilet, wiping at her eye while clearing her throat. “So, uhm, I think… that… person wants to talk to us.”
That person? Riaghaire frowned, wracking his brain for who she might be referring to.
While in a bloodlust crazed state, the world became a bit of a blur. A vampire’s vision changed, allowing them to see another’s life force, body heat, blo low.,, but the only sure way they distinguish their prey was through scent and sound. He’d never had an ally before, so he hadn’t even thought to worr about mistaking his gréine for an enemy until the bloodlust had begun to take hold. The last clear thought he’d had before the craze settled in was that he harmed her – accidentally or otherwise – he would never be able to forgive himself.
Luckily, she was unharmed. Her body trembled and her smile appeared forced, but she was strong and would persevere as she always did. It was one of t many things he found irresistible about his human.
‘Would you tell me what transpired?,” he asked once she’d finished wiping at her face.
“Huh?,” she blinked, looking startled.
‘I am… in that state, the mind… a vampire’s senses are altered and I am unsure if I am recalling the details correctly.”
His gréine stared at him for a couple seconds, then gave him the first real smile, though small, since he’d come back to his senses, it took her a few minut lo recount what had happened, and most of it lined up with Riaghaire’s recollections. He now knew who he’d attacked. Sort of She had no idea who the f two wolves had been, nor had she realized the dark wolf had been her mate- until the stranger had forced him to shift.
To have the power to force a beast an Alpha to shift against his will was impressive. And terrifying. It meant this person was a seal greater than anything the vampire had ever met. And Riaghaire had stood between them and Beatrice, threatening them with violenge should they approach
Bloodlust made vampires do stupid things all the time but that was, without a doubt, the stupidest by lay he was fortunate to have walked away without losing his life. How had she gotten him to walk by this being without lashing out! All he could remember was being unable to focus on anything but his gréine from the moment she’d placed her hands on his blood splattered face
His eyes flicked down to her hands, which looked relatively clean. He then noted shed wiped the blood off on her pants, the dark fabric camouflaging it “Your hands…”
Beatrice followed his gaze downward. She turned her hands over so her palms were facing up and curfed her fingers in to show traces of blood around her nails. “Yeah! should probably wash them, huh?”
Without thinking, Riaghaire took one of her hands, lifting it to his face and, before either of them understood what he was about to do, slipped a finger into his mouth. He ran his tongue along her finger, carefully moving it beneath her nail and around the bed so as not to leave any trace of blund behind

Chapter 83
The god of her heart beat skyrocketing brought him back to reality Why had he done that? There was no way she wouldn’t think that was crossing a line; especially not when she made sure to step back whenever there was any potential for more to happen between them.
Riaghaire glanced up through his Takes to check his gréine’s reaction and found her staring at him with wide eyes. Her breathing had picked up, mirroring her heart beat, but she wasn’t pulling away.
Slowly, he slid her finger from his mouth, taking care his fangs didn’t make contact with her skin. She still hadn’t puffed away and he decided to test his luck. He brushed his lips against another of her fingers before slipping it into his mouth, where he proceeded to clean it the same way as the first. This time, however, the vampire worked much slower, giving her ample opportunity to put a stop to it.
She never did. She just kept staring at him with those beautiful green eyes.
Once finished, he unhurriedly slid it from his mouth. Tilting his head back, he tried to figure out what she might be thinking.
It was Beatrice who made the next move, suddenly leaning forward and pressing her mouth against his. They were soft, warm, and tasted exquisite. No sooner had he thought those things did she pull away, practically lunging for the sink before her earlier meal made a reappearance. “Fucking… mate shit…” she coughed before another wave hit.
Riaghaire was on his feet, standing by her side as he rubbed her back in the hopes of giving her some sort of comfort. The shock from what had happened between them still gripped him and he couldn’t seem to speak. One would think seeing someone puking their guts out after kissing him would make the vampire feel insecure. Instead, he felt more than a little proud that she’d enjoyed it enough to activate the mate bond. Well, proud might not be the best word to describe it, but that was neither here nor there.
