Chapter 89
It pissed her oft.
But then she’d wake in the afternoon, cuddled up to Riaghaire. He spent her sleeping hours sitting next to her in bed, reading out loud until she’d fallen
esleep.
While she slept, Beatrice gravitated towards him, which didn’t make any sense. No, that wasti’t right… it made sense with how she’d grown attached to him, but not in the sense that, while awake, any exchange or contact between them that made her heart race also made the mark on her shoulder burn. And
caused her to become nauseated.
It was only while she slept that this was a non-issue. Her body seemed craved contact with Riaghaire. Was it because he had promised to keep her safe? Or
had she’d begun to develop feelings for the man he was proving himself to be?
With that last thought, she started to wonder; was she falling for him because of a trauma. bond, or because he was someone she actually clicked with?
Would she feel this way if they’d met like normal people – not captives? If they weren’t stuck together because he wanted to repay some debt she didn’t
even think he owed, would he still want to stick around the way he had been?
What a mess. And then she’d gone and kissed him, further muddying the waters. Not that it was all her fault. He’d been literally sucking on her fingers as he
cleaned the blood from them with his tongue. It was only natural she started wondering what other things he could do with said tongue, resulting in the
need to kiss him.
Then her body demanded she vomit in the sink. Fucking mate bond bullshit.
Even if she did figure out how she felt, the mate bond made it impossible to explore to any degree. It just wasn’t fair.
Once home, Beatrice commandeered the bathroom for a quick shower. Once she was nice and clean, she found Claire sitting with a cup of hot cocoa at the
kitchen table. “Can we talk?”
The blond’s eyebrows rose in surprise. “Uh, sure? What’s up?”
Beatrice sat opposite her friend. “Are you ever gonna tell me what you’re suppose to be?”
Cleste froze, eyes wide. “what do you mean?”
“I may be human but I’m not an idiot,” Beatrice explained with a frown. “I’d have to be deat and blund not to see the signs that you’re
the right word, but you know what I mean ”
A nervous laugh escaped Claire, her grip tightening on the steaming mug in her hands “Maybe I’m just werd
Beatrice stared at the blond for a long moment before shaking her head I’ve always told you everything Until recently “The always trust you w secrets Always But now I’m wondering if you’ve ever trusted me with yours
“That’s not fair, Bea,” Claire exclaimed, looking hust “There has to be lots of things you’ve never shared with me
does it matter?
“If it helps you feel better about yourself, feel free to bebeve that she shrugged, getting to her feet “But it doesn’t really change anything does it know you aren’t telling me something and I can only guess why Whether you dont trust me with it on think it nudge you for whatever reason I’d like to think you know I’d never hold it against you, whatever it might be
“Bea, it’s not like that,” Claire began, but Beatrice was already walking away Bea, just wait
