Take Me Once, I'll Bleed You Twice novel Chapter 93

Chapter 93

RIAGHAIRE

Riaghaire had almost moved to stand between his gréine and the vampires outside but stopped himself. They couldn’t enter unless someone invited them and she was no fool. So long as the threshold stood between them, nothing could happen.

Let them think he was a tame vampire by standing back, as if waiting for an order. He could play the game, if that was what they wanted to believe.

“Master?” Beatrice repeated back to them. “Doesn’t having a master mean you’re tamed vampires?”

Of course his gréine would find something amusing to say in response. It took effort to hide the smile that threatened to spread over his face.

Worry.

“We are not tamed, human. Our Master is a true Power, unlike you.” Though the faces and bodies of both vampires were hidden by their bulky sweaters al hoods, the one who’d spoken had done so with such conviction that Riaghaire was beginning to worry. Just a little. Master vampires were most often Old, with a capital ‘O’. They were few and far between, as creating fledglings was time consuming when done properly. Then there was the issue of this Master also being a Power. Not good.

Creating fledglings was a liability, until one’s brood grew large enough in size to be able to protect itself. And then there was the issue of food. Creating a brood in an area with a high population meant lots of available prey but a higher chance of being killed by Others – vampires weren’t exactly the most welcomed of species, since all who bleed red are considered food. There were plenty of Others who took great pleasure in taking one of his kind out whenever the chance arose. To learn there was a local brood here, in a wolf’s territory, meant this Master of theirs had earned the title of Power.

Yes, there had been a few who showed up at Kaleidoscope from time to time, but he’d been under the impression they weren’t part of a brood loners thi set up territories for themselves within the city limits.

To think a pack of wolves hadn’t managed to destroy the brood. Then again… the brood hadn’t taken out the pack, either. Had they come to a truce of sort Riaghaire had never heard of such a thing, though that didn’t mean it was an impossibility; only highly unlikely.

“You say that like I should be insulted,” his gréine laughed. “I’m human, so of course I’m not any kind of power or whatever. Work on your comebacks befol trying to act all tough.”

Was she purposefully provoking them? Perhaps he should step in and prevent tensions from rising any further.

“You.”

“You came here without invitation,” she interjected, tone sharp, as though she was admonishing a child, “and expected me to just go along with whatever

you want. Please. Yeah, I’m human, but I’m not a complete idiot, nor am I someone you can push around by acting all scary and shit bet your act together

and try again another day, preferably without being complete asshats, and maybe just maybe I’ll consider ipeting this Master of would

“You think you have a choice?,” the one standing further back snapped, sounding younger than the first He too was man “It’s not a request, hurtin it’s an

order”

“You keep reminding me that I’m human and yet you re quick to forget that same fact she shot back with a hull. Tanswer to tur Master of yours Toser Master isn’t my master, dumbass, therefore I don’t have to listen to anything And, wah, you re stronger, faster deadlier blah blah blah, than [fleve Whoop tee doo You could be a fucking God and I’d still talk to you like you re an idiot, especially when you’re being in duck

The one standing closest to the threshold met Riaghatie’s gaze “You’ll let this human talk about vampires like that

He shrugged. “I am a tamed vampire From the change in his greine’s posture, Kraghaire could tell his response had amused her fat more than it had thes

vampires. They were rather displeased by it.

Chapter 93-

“Blowry-41 egem,” Beatrice instructed them. “But use your polite voice.

There was a moment of silence that greeted her words before the one with the mature voice spoke. “Our Master…,” he began, carefully enunciating each word through gritted teeth, “would very much like to meet the… person who has… successfully tamed a vampire. If you would be so kind.”

Beatrice nodded along as he spoke. Once finished, she said, “Much better. And the answer is still no.” She therr slammed the door in his face.

Rieghaire had enjoyed watching his gréine handle the situation.

“Fucking. Vampires,” he heard her mutter as she marched back to the kitchen, where her cereal now looked to be soggier than she liked. This assumption was proven correct when she let out a loud sigh.

“They will wait for us to leave,” he told Beatrice as she poked the bowl of mush with her spoon. “And make another attempt. The moment you cross the threshold, they will do everything they must to take you.”-

“Yeah, I figured,” she grumbled, eating a spoonful of the soggy mess. “I probably shouldn’t have, you know, been a sassy bitch to them, but I couldn’t help myself I’m so tired of all these Others thinking I’ll just roll over because I’m human.”

She wasn’t wrong. It would have been better if she’d kept her temper in check, but Riaghaire loved seeing her fired up, giving as good as she got to unsuspecting fools who dared tell her what to do. Besides, the two who’d been sent to deliver the message had been fledglings – nothing he couldn’t

handfe.

He was worried about the Master. Luckily, just because the one pulling the strings was a Power, this didn’t necessarily mean their brood had inherited any of it. “May I use your phone?,” Riaghaire asked once Beatrice had finished her breakfast.

“Uh… sure,” she nodded, returning to their room before reappearing a moment later. His gréine always plugged it in before going to sleep – something about it needing to charge – and rarely carried it with her when they were home. Claire, on the other hand, was glued to her phone as though her life depended on it.

He’d asked her about this once, and she’d simply shrugged and said, “I used to be like that too, but when Hendricks took mine away… I realized I preferred not having one. Everything on it is… Being dependent on it is more of a hassle than anything.”

His gréine held out the device, which he took with a nod of thanks. She had taught him how to use it, or at least how to make a phone call. It was an incredible thing he held in the palm of his hand. It had the power to give him information on anything he could possibly think of in a matter of seconds and yet everyone acted as though it was ‘no big deal’.
