Riley’s POV

Mateo texted back quickly.

[Odin and his sister accept the deal. But they’re in a rush. They want to be treated tonight.]

I replied, [No problem. See you at the clinic.]

Then I opened the patient file he sent me and started reviewing the case carefully.

There were actually two patients: Odin and his sister Olivia. Both were seriously injured during a recent hunting trip. One with broken ribs, the other with a fractured right leg.

Their request was simple: a full recovery within two days.

I totally got why they were so anxious. Hunting Season was only days away, and there’s no way a guy with broken leg and a girl on crutches would survive that competition. And for seniors, this year’s ranking meant everything–it could determine whether they got into the elite military squad after graduation.

I was damn sure I could fix them. If I really wanted, I could even boost their athletic ability beyond what it used to be.

The only question left was…Would they cooperate?

After school, I headed straight to the clinic in the underground club. Mateo was already waiting.

“I’m kinda surprised you

k this case,” he said, giving me a curious look. “They’re not paying the most, and the injuries aren’t even that rare or research–worthy.”

“Well, let’s just say they’ve got something I want. Are they here yet?”

“Of course. Come with me.”

He led me into the exam room and pointed to the one–way glass.

And there they were, on the other side, one leaning on crutches, the other in a wheelchair.

The moment I saw their faces. I froze.

Well, guess what?

I actually knew these two. From a long time ago.

Odin is the Alpha’s son from the pack next to Pebble Creek, and Olivia was the Alpha’s daughter. Our packs were close. So I used to play with them all the time when we were kids.

Technically speaking, Odin was my first crush.

Blonde hair, blue eyes, delicate features–he was everything I’d ever imagined a prince would look like. Back then, all I ever wanted to do all day was run into the woods and spend time with him.

He was always kind. But not his sister.

Olivia was one hell of a little demon.

She loved torturing me. She threw rocks at me, whipped me with sticks, once even pushed me into a ditch and stood there laughing while I cried. Odin was the only one who could put a stop to her.

And then we turned 10, everything changed.

Maybe they started realizing they were Alpha blood, and I was just a farmer’s daughter. We came from two different worlds.

50 we slowly drifted apart. And never saw each other again.

I had a good cry about him back then. Eventually I got over my first crush and put him behind me. Even forgot his name and everything.

Until now.

Through the glass, I could see Odin was all grown now. Tall, handsome, still had that sunshine–blonde hair and soft smile. My heart did a little flip just looking at him.

As for Olivia… well, she hadn’t changed much. Pale face, long curly blonde hair, and still that same sour look. Obnoxious.

“What’s that face? Do you know them?” Mateo asked curiously.

I pulled myself back from the memory. “Sort of. Hey, you didn’t tell them who I really am, right?”

“Of course not. Veilwalker’s identity is top secret. I know the rules.”

“Good.”

I pulled out the veil and wrapped it around my face carefully.

No way those two could know that Veilwalker was actually Riley Monroe. I couldn’t let anyone connect a normal student of the Royal Academy to an illegal underground healer.

After making sure I was fully disguised, I followed Mateo into the room.

“Guys, your requested healer is here,” Mateo announced.

Both of them snapped their heads up in expectation.

And almost instantly, their faces twisted into disbelief.

“You’ve got to be kidding me! No way this is Veilwalker,” Olivia snapped, her voice high and sharp. “I’m not trusting my ribs to some little girl!”

I rolled my eyes behind the veil. Still annoying as hell.

“Watch your tone,” Mateo growled. “I’m the owner of this club, and if I say she’s the Veilwalker, she is. If you don’t want treatment, stop wasting our time and get the hell out of here.”

“Where’s your respect. I’m the Alpha’s daughter!” she shrieked.

I scoffed. “I’ve treated many royalties and the rich. An alpha’s daughter doesn’t mean much to me, especially not from a small pack like yours.”

Her face flushed bright red in anger.

Odin gently squeezed her shoulder, then turned to me with a polite tone. “Please forgive my sister. She’s just been in pain too long. Since Mateo vouched for you, we won’t question your identity. But…can you guarantee the treatment will work?”

“Of course.” I softened my voice a little. “But you’ll need to agree to my terms first. Mateo told you already, right?”

“Yes. I’m just curious–why that condition? Do you know Riley Monroe?” his blue eyes gleamed with curiosity.

“She’s…sort of a friend,” I said vaguely.

Olivia let out a cold snort. “God! I can’t believe anyone would be friends with that little slut. She’s a disgrace to the Royal Academy.”

“Olivia!” Odin snapped.

“What? Just telling the truth here,” she whined “Odin, come on, are we seriously teaming up with Riley Monroe? She pissed off our heir. She’s now the walking target! We’ll be damned if we get her on our team. And I hate her myself. That smug face, that know–it–all attitude…Ugh!”

“But we need to get better. Fast. Joining the Hunting Season is our top priority,” her brother reminded her.

“I know! But do we really have to let HER treat us?” She gave me a dark look. “Look at her. She won’t even take off her veil. Maybe she’s hiding because she’s not that confident in her skills.”

I snorted. That stupid bitch.

Mateo’s voice turned icy behind me. “Odin, if your sister disrespects Veilwalker one more time, I’ll have her thrown out. And she’ll be banned for life.”

“You wouldn’t dare-!”

“OLIVIA!” Odin barked. “As your brother and future Alpha, I forbid you to say another word. It’s decided.”

She bit her lip and sulked in silence.

Odin let out a breath and turned back to me. “My deepest apology. And of course, we’ll accept your terms. Please just help us get back on our feet again.”

I gave him a small smile and handed them a contract that explained our obligations. I asked all my patients to sign to avoid problems.

“Sign this, and we’ll begin right away.”

Once they finished signing, the nurse came in and brought them to the operating room, where they were put under full anesthesia.

Meanwhile, I got ready in the prep room next door. Mateo would be assisting me with the surgery.

“We should’ve kicked that noisy girl out,” Mateo muttered while I changed into scrubs. “She doesn’t deserve your help.”

I shrugged. “She’s always been like that.”

“Doesn’t it bother you?”

“Hell no. She’s just a clown.”

Olivia used to be the biggest nightmare of my life. I’d cried over her bullying for years.

But things had changed.

Right now, I was the one with power. Hell I could easily take her life if I wanted to. She didn’t matter anymore.

“You should’ve told me about all this crap you’ve been dealing with at school,” Mateo complained. “You don’t need to suffer in silence. I won’t allow it. Your fans won’t allow it.”

“And what are you gonna do? Send a bunch of hitmen to beat the crap out of every student that hates me? Don’t be silly,” I teased, tying up my hair and slipping on a surgical mask. “Now let’s go. We’ve got work to do.”

The surgery went smoothly.

Odin’s broken leg was the easier one. Olivia’s ribs, though, were a real mess. They were all shattered, and it took a shit load of work to repair them properly. I might hate Olivia, but I fixed them anyway. I always took my job very seriously.

I even used some healing powers to make sure their athletic performance would be better than before.

Even with Mateo helping, the surgery went on for 2 full hours.

Afterward I was starving. So handed over the Finishing touches to the nurses and headed to the lounge for food. And homework. Yup, that’s right Even when you’re the most farnous underground heater, you still have to finish your homework.

I was piecing together a stupid history essay when someone knocked on the door.
