Tempted By my Evil Lycan Stepbrother novel Chapter 82

Still, standing there and seeing him with someone else made it hard for me to breathe.

I took in a deep breath antarged myself to keep walking

Don’t stop.

Don’t look again.

Don’t let him find out how much you care.

So I lifted my chin and walked past them like I hadn’t noticed a thing.

Then his voice came after me.

“Riley. Wait up.”

Chapter 87: I’ll Marry Him

Riley’s POV

My steps slowed, but I didn’t turn around right away.

I had already seen enough.

Ezra was leaning against that car like he owned the whole school. That girl wrapped around his neck. His rich little circle laughed around him like they were gods and the rest of us were dirt under their shoes

I should have kept walking.

But then he called my name again, louder this time.

“Riley.”

There was something in his voice that made it very clear he had no intention of letting me leave quietly

So I stopped and looked over my shoulder.

Ezra was watching me with those cold green eyes, one arm still resting lazily on the car roof. The girl had stepped back from him now, but she still had her huge boobs pressed tightly against his chest. He didn’t look embarrassed or guilty. If anything. there was something deliberate in the way he held himself, like he wanted me to see exactly this.

That hurt more than I wanted to admit.

I kept my face blank. “What?”

He tilted his head slightly, as if amused by my tone. “You’re going to walk away like that? That’s no way to greet your future king.”

Before I could answer, one of the boys beside him laughed.

“Damn, Riley. You didn’t even say hi? That’s pretty disrespectful.”

Another boy smirked and pushed off from the hood of the car. “Maybe she thinks she’s above that now.”

The girl beside Ezra gave a bright, ugly laugh. “Of course she does. Didn’t you hear? She’s marrying a noble now.

A couple of the others snorted.

The first boy looked me up and down slowly, making my skin crawl. “That’s adorable. She really thinks landing one rich idiot means she can ignore the future king? Whoever her future husband is, that guy is no shit in front of us.

“So stupid,” another said. “And so wrong.”

The girls joined in after that, their voices sweet in the way that only made them crueler.

“I still don’t get it,” one of them said, looking me over with open disdain. “She’s not even that pretty. Why would anyone want her?”

eriously,” said the first girl, tossing her hair. “What noble family looked at her and thought yes,

that one?”

burst out laughing.

hem glanced at Ezra, then back at me with a filthy grin. “Maybe she does something pretty danin special in bed to win

The group roared.

My whole body went cold. I couldn’t even control myself. I was shaking all over.

I didn’t look at Ezra at first. But when that boy made flat last comment, I finally looked his way. Because maybe, some stoped part of me still hoped this would be the moment he stepped it and told them to shut up. Maybe he would act like the man who had once stood in front of a whole hall and declared me the winner with his own hands.

Yet he said nothing.

He just stood there watching me with those hard, mocking eyes like he wanted to see me crack.

That hurt even worse than the words.

They were still roaring with laughter but I had turned to leave.

I was fucking done with all these.

But before I could get more than two steps, two of his friends jumped down from the cars and blocked my path.

“Hey, where do you think you’re going?” one of them asked.

I moved left. He moved too. Another boy came up behind me. Suddenly I was boxed in.

“Move,” I hissed.

Instead of listening, the boy nearest me laughed and gave my shoulder a hard shove.

“Come on, Riley,” he said. “Tell us. Which noble family picked you?”

Another hand shoved lightly at my arm from the other side. “Yeah. Maybe we should think about it too.”

That got more laughter. One of the boys leaned in, close enough that I could smell his cologne. He grinned evilly. “But no promises about marriage, of course. Maybe just a one-night stand? Considering your reputation, that should be easy enough.”

“Whore,” one of the girls added under her breath.

The word slid under my skin like a knife.

I looked past them toward the gate and saw students slowing down, gathering, watching. More and more of them stopped as the little scene grew uglier. Some whispered. Some smiled. A few teachers stood farther back near the drive, clearly aware

something was wrong.

None of them moved.

Of course they didn’t. Why would they?

It was me. The target of the whole school.

I shoved the nearest boy off hard enough that he stumbled half a step. “Get your fucking bands off me. ”

The same boy came right back with a grin. “Feisty ”

He grabbed for my wrist.

Before he could touch me again, a car shot toward the curb and slammed to a stop so fast the tires shrieked.

Everyone turned around, startled. And Ezra sat straight on his car roof.

The passenger door flew open. Leon jumped out.

He crossed the distance between us at a run and stepped straight between me and Ezra’s friends, putting his body between mine and theirs without hesitation.

“Back off,” he snapped.

But it didn’t

His body locked up

The fist stopped so close I felt the wind of it brush my skin, but the strike never landed

The matebond between us came to life. It wouldn’t allow Ezra to hurt me, which was the only mercy it had ever offered the

Shock flashed across Ezra’s face. A naked disbelief that I had stepped in front of another man to stop him.

Then the disbelief burned into fury so bright it looked wild.

“Are you willing to sacrifice your life for him?” he shouted.

My own anger had already gone too far by then. It had swallowed the hurt, the humiliation, the jealousy, everything

All that was left was the need to hurt him back as badly as he had hurt me.

So I lifted my chin and looked straight into his furious eyes.

“Yes,” I said.

The whole crowd seemed to go still around us.

Leon was breathing hard behind me. Ezra looked like I had stabbed him in the chest.

I didn’t stop there.

“You know what, Ezra? You are a horrible person,” I said, my voice shaking but loud enough for everyone to hear. “I don’t care what others say or how much the girls like you-it won’t change the fact that you are a sick fucking bastard. I hate you.”

Ezra’s face went white with rage.

I continued anyway. “Leon is not like you. He’s righteous, and he protected me when none of your filthy friends would stop.

And because I wanted to wound him, because some ugly, furious part of me needed him to hurt too, I drove the knife all the way

“I’ve made up my mind,” I said. “I’m going to marry Leon.”

For a second, nobody in that crowd made a sound

Then I finished, clear and cold and brutal enough to make even myself flinch inside

“As soon as possible.”

He kept one arm slightly behind him, blocking me from view, and fixed his eyes on the circle

“If any of you touch her again,” he said, “I’m calling the police.

That got a real laugh. One of Ezra’s friends actually doubled over.

“The police?” he wheezed.

“You serious?” another one asked. “Do you know who our parents are? Your seriously think a cop can control us?”

Leon’s jaw tightened, but he didn’t back down. I tensed up slightly with worry surging up in me. I knew how cruel these monsters were. I didn’t want them to hurt Leon.

That’s when Ezra moved.

He pushed away from the car at last and started walking toward us. The laughter around him quieted almost immediately. The crowd immediately parted for him like he was the god.

He came slowly, almost lazily, but the expression on his face made the air around us feel charged. That cold mockery was gone now. It was replaced with danger.

He stopped a few feet in front of Leon and looked straight in Leon’s eyes.

2

“Leave Riley now,” he said abruptly. “And I can pretend none of these happened. This is your last warning.”

Leon didn’t move. “No. I’m not leaving her with horrible people like you and your friends.”

Ezra smiled a cruel smile, which made my stomach drop.

“Then you might want to get started with your death wish,” he said.

The next second happened so fast I almost missed it.

Ezra grabbed the front of Leon’s shirt and tore it open with one violent motion, buttons flying everywhere.

Then he lunged and threw Leon to the ground.

The crowd exploded.

“Fight!”

“Go get him Prince Ezra!”

“Yeah kick that whore’s boyfriend’s ass!”

“STOP IT!!!” I screamed. But nobody listened.

It was sick. Every bit of it.

Students surged closer instead of away, their faces lit up like they had just been handed front-row seats to the best show of the

year.

Leon tried to defend himself, but he was nowhere near Ezra’s level. Ezra fought like something born for violence. Every move was faster, harder, more brutal. Leon barely got one arm up before Ezra’s fist slammed into him and sent him staggering backward.

“Ezra!” I shouted again. “Stop it!” He didn’t even turn his head. My voice buried in the excited roars again.

Leon swung back once, desperate and clumsy. Ezra caught his arm and drove a knee into his stomach hard enough to told him

over.

It was a slaughter, and everyone watching knew it.

Chapter 83: The Happiest Bride

Riley’s POV

Ezra froze.

For one second, even the chaos around us seemed to fall away. The shouting crowd, Leon’s ragged breathing, the teachers pretending they hadn’t seen anything-all of it blurred at the edges.

All I could really see was Ezra’s face.

He looked like he couldn’t believe what he had just heard. And the world had slammed into him so hard his body had forgotten how to move.

Good. I told myself that, clenching my fists.

That was what I wanted, wasn’t it? To hurt him back. To make him feel even a fraction of what I had felt standing there while he let his friends tear me apart, while he kissed another girl in front of me like I had meant nothing

I turned from him and bent to help Leon up.

He winced when I touched his arm, but he straightened anyway, still breathing hard from the beating Ezra had given him. There was blood at the corner of his mouth and dirt on his shirt, but when he looked at me, there were sparkies in his eyes.

“Are you serious?” he asked me, breathing fast. “What you just said…about getting married?”

I took in a deep breath and told myself to steel

“Come on,” I said.

Leon blinked. “What?”

“We’re going to the palace.” My own voice sounded strange to me too calm and even as if someone else were speaking through my mouth. “We’re going to tell my mother and the king right now.”

That seemed to shock him even more.

Then excitement flashed across his entire face.
