The 24th Century Warrior Became a Fake Heiress novel Chapter 12

Chapter 12 Who Gets a Car?

As for the house, she hadn’t had time to look at anything yet, let alone actually make a purchase.

The store manager respectfully said he understood.

Isabella picked up one box of items and headed out.

Those were exactly the things she needed most at the moment.

She called a car and went back to the estate.

Not that it really mattered whether she went home or not, but to keep the Powell family from causing problems that would just waste her time and energy, Isabella decided to go back and keep a low profile.

If the Powells knew what was good for them, they’d leave her aloneotherwise, she wasn’t going to hold back.

When Isabella got back to the house, Isaac and Daniel were already waiting for her in the living room.

Where have you been?!

Isaac looked furious when he saw her walk in, practically shouting the question.

Isabella raised an eyebrow, her expression cold.

Shopping, she said flatly, then added in an icy tone, What, do I have to report to you every time I leave

the house?

Am I a prisoner here?

Isaac opened his mouth but couldn’t find a response.

Daniel, standing nearby, frowned. Is that any way to talk to your brother? He was just worried about you.

Besides, someone said they saw you out on the street with some troublemakers. What was that about?

Isabella stopped midstep when Daniel brought that up.

So someone had seen her with those troublemakers?

If word had already gotten back to Daniel and Isaac, that meant the person who saw her was probably close to the family.

She ran through it quickly in her head and got a pretty good sense of what was going on.

That did happen,Isabella said evenly. I was just trying to help. They were fighting in an alley, and I happened to walk by. I called the cops.

You can still check the police records for that area if you want.

If you don’t believe me, go look.

Did the person who told you not mention that part?

Now it was Daniel’s turn to go quiet.

Trying to help? Calling the cops?

He frowned, starting to feel a headache coming on.

When Adrian had called, he hadn’t said anything about any of that.

But since Isabella was telling him this, and it was something they could easily verify, there wasn’t really any reason for her to lie.

Thinking it over, Daniel’s anger and frustration faded pretty quickly.

Isaac was caught off guard, too.

Calling the cops? Helping out?

That wasn’t what his brother had told him.

He couldn’t exactly come out and say his brother was the one who’d told him, and now that he’d been so quick to accuse Isabella, he felt uncomfortable.

He put on a cold expression and said, Then why did you go all the way out there?

You don’t have a car. Who drove you?

He was practically grilling her, as if catching her on one thing would somehow prove she was in the wrong, rather than him jumping to conclusions.

Isabella let out a short, humorless laugh.

She turned around, kicked over the trash can sitting nearby, and said coldly, Yeah! I’d like to know that too. How exactly did I leave without a car?

So, Isaac, why haven’t you set me up with a car?

What, do you expect your precious little sister and Dad to all walk down the hill?

Or are the family cars so special that everyone else gets to use them except me?

Isabella gave the tippedover trash can another kick, her voice dripping with sarcasm. Before you go pointing fingers at other people, take a good look at yourself.

How I got down the hill is none of your business, so stop worrying about things that don’t have anything to do with you.

What’s it to you anyway?
