My roar echoed sharply, and Cindy slowly turned to face me. Her eyes showed no surprise. I guess that made sense since our bond meant shed known I’d arrived at the Royal Court long before I even made a sound.

My anger surged like a living thing, thick and heavy in the air. The Omega servant, Jewel, trembled uncontrollably beneath the weight of my Alpha presence, her face pale as if she might faint. Yet, in a reckless act, she stretched her arms wide, trying to shield Cindy from

  1. me.

Such an arrogant fool!Kenzi, my wolf spirit, snarled inside my mind, demanding swift punishment for this insolent Omega who dared lefy her Alpha.

Just as I prepared to unleash a crushing wave of dominance on the terrified servant, a sharp, intense Alpha aura flared suddenly from Cindy herself, shielding Jewel with exact, cold precision.

That presence carried the biting cold and proud isolation of the Northmere tundra. It made my own overwhelming power waver for the briefest moment.

I stared at Cindy, dumbfounded.

Was thisher Alpha aura? So pure, so strong? I’d always seen her as gentle and mild, her wolf spirit calm, even meek. How could she possess something so commanding?

James,Cindy’s voice sliced through the tension dripping with icy sarcasm, this is the Royal Court, not your Duskfang territory. If you’re planning on throwing a fit here, you’d better check first if King Ryken allows it.”

Her words hit hardreminding me that no violence was tolerated in the Royal Court, especially not against its visitors. King Ryken’s power was absolute.

I forced a slow breath, swallowing the storm of fury and Alpha dominance rising inside me, gradually easing my presence back.

The Omega servant gasped shakily, relief flickering in her eyes despite lingering fear as she met mine.

Fine. Whatever,” I sneered, locking eyes on Cindy again. Then tell mewhy are you here? Don’t think you can convince King Ryken to undo my bond with Evelyn. The Royal Court council has officially approved her as Luna of the Duskfang Pack. It’s what’s best for the pack’s future. You have no say in this!

I expected at least a hint of resentment or argument, but Cindy only looked at me with a detached expression, like watching a kid throwing a tantrum.

I didn’t ask King Ryken to change anything about you or Evelyn,” she said, cool and calm.

You didn’t?I snarled, refusing to believe her. Kenzi howled furiously inside my mind, insisting she was lying.

Then what are you doing here? Just sightseeing I stepped closer, searching her face for any sign of hesitation. Drop the act, Cindy. I know exactly what’s on your mind. You’re jealous that Evelyn stands beside me and brings honor to the pack.

I softened my tone a bit, trying to reason. I’ve been fair with you. Even after you stepped down as Luna, your place in the pack is respected. Manage the pack’s affairs right, and we’ll always have a place for you. What more do you want?

A thought flickered. Maybe I could offer her something bigger, to finally quiet her unrest.

Cindy,I lowered my voice, aiming for generosity. If you behave, once Evelyn officially becomes Luna, I’ll let you bear my child. With the Alpha’s blood, your status will be stronger. That benefits you, the child, and the pack. I’m thinking of you here. You should be grateful.”

I thought these words would soften her. Bearing the Alpha’s child was the highest honor for any female werewolf.

But Cindy only smiled. It was a cold, sharp smile that cut deep, setting me on edge.
