Chapter 104 An Invitation from Franklin

Chapter 104 An Invitation from Franklin

James’s POV:

I was locked inside the camp tent for two more days.

Those two days felt endless.

Every minute dragged on. Every second hurt.

Even the wind outside started to sound like Evelyn screaming.

When I closed my eyes, I saw her covered in blood, staring at me, asking why I didn’t save her.

By the morning of the third day, I couldn’t take it anymore.

I rushed out of the tent.

This time, no one stopped me.

I ran straight toward the command tent.

Outside, Cindy was sitting with several officers, sharing roasted meat.

They were laughing and chatting. The relaxed mood made my blood boil.

“Cindy!”

I charged forward and kicked over the grill in front of them.

Hot coals flew everywhere, and everyone jumped back in shock.

“You can still eat?” I shouted, pointing at her, my eyes red, pointing at her with shaking fingers, my eyes red. “Evelyn is suffering! She’s bleeding! And you’re all here stuffing your faces? Have you lost your conscience?”

Before Cindy could speak, two strong werewolves stood up.

They were Bagel Gill and Skinny Walker-Cindy’s most loyal followers from the academy. They weren’t alphas, but their fighting strength was no weaker than one.

“Watch your mouth, James,” Bagel snapped. He was built like a bear and still holding half a bone in his hand. His eyes were fierce. “Cindy hasn’t slept for days. She just sat down for a meal, and you come here acting crazy?”

“I’m the commander!” I roared. “It’s not your place to talk!” I swung my fist at Bagel’s face.

Right then, I only wanted to vent. I just wanted to hit someone.

But I forgot, I was weak. My wolf spirit was damaged, and I hadn’t eaten properly for two days.

Bagel didn’t even dodge. He took the punch head-on and didn’t move an inch.

“That’s all you’ve got?” He sneered. “Hits like a pussy.”

Bang!

He punched me hard in the stomach.

The pain ripped through me. I folded over and dropped to my knees, bile spilling from my mouth.

“You dared to hit me…” I gasped.

“I dared, and I did!” he shouted back.

Skinny rushed in and kicked me in the back, knocking me flat.

“That kick was for Cindy!” Skinny yelled as he kept kicking. “Do you know how awfully you treated her? You broke the bond, drove her away, and used her money to support that slut! Do you have no shame?”

“This punch is for the Silverpeak Pack!” Bagel yelled, straddling me as his heavy fists rained down. “Cindy’s entire family is dead! You didn’t comfort her once. Instead, you shamelessly parade with that killer right in front of her. Are you even a man?”

“And you call yourself a war god? A general? Don’t make me laugh! Spit!”

Their punches landed one after another.

They didn’t use weapons. They didn’t use wolf spirit power. It was raw, brutal fighting.

My face swelled. My whole body screamed in pain, but I didn’t fight back.

Because every word they shouted cut deeper than their fists.

A circle of soldiers formed around us. No one stepped in to stop it. Some even cheered.

“Enough.”

After what felt like forever, Cindy finally spoke.

“Stop.”
