Cindy’s POV:
I bit my lip hard until I tasted blood.

“An apology…” My voice was rough. “Can an apology bring my parents back? Can it bring the Silverpeak Pack back to life?”
“No,” Franklin said calmly as he straightened up. “So I brought you the real culprit. This is not compensation. It is only justice.”
He pointed toward the mountain behind him.
“James, aren’t you looking for your wife? Go. Go up the mountain. Look inside that cabin. Then you’ll understand what kind of monster the woman you love truly is. You’ll also learn what crimes she committed.”
After that, Franklin looked at me deeply and mounted his horse.
“Your Grace, after today, my army will withdraw from Southreach. For 100 years, we will not invade again. This is my promise to the fallen souls of the Silverpeak Pack. I hope we never meet again.”
He led his army away, slowly retreating, leaving behind only one path-the road leading up to the cabin on the mountain.
I watched his back, my heart full of tangled emotions.
I hated the vampires. I hated them for killing my family.
But I hated Evelyn even more. She was the one who lit this fire.
Franklin’s apology was heavy, but it showed me something else-a line that even the powerhouse would
not cross.
This was a hard kind of peace. We all carried our pain. To stop more bloodshed, we chose restraint.
“Let’s go.” I turned to James, who stood frozen in place. “Go up the mountain. Go see for yourself what your chosen wife has brought you and all of us.”
James’s POV:
My mind was a mess, like a knot I couldn’t untangle.
Franklin’s words echoed again and again in my head.
Torturing nobles from another land… castrating… the Silverpeak Pack as scapegoats…
“No, that’s impossible! It can’t be true!”
I muttered to myself, as if trying to hypnotize my mind.

Chapter 107 The Brutal Truth
How could Evelyn do something like that?
She is competitive, yes. She could be ruthless. But she is a proud soldier.
Abusing prisoners was something the whole world would condemn. How could she do this?
And if it was true, then what did that make me?

I had abandoned Cindy, who was kind and loyal, and carried the name of a traitor for Evelyn. I even turned my back on my pack.
If Evelyn was truly a monster, didn’t that make me her accomplice?
Didn’t that make me one of the people who destroyed Cindy’s family?
“I don’t believe it! I need to hear it from her!”
I looked up sharply, my eyes red, and urged my horse toward the mountain.
The cabin stood halfway up the slope, alone in the wind and snow, like a grave.
Cindy followed behind me with her soldiers. She said nothing, but the cold look in her eyes sent a chill down my spine.
The mountain path was rough. The horse couldn’t go on.
I dismounted and climbed on foot, stumbling with every step.
My heart pounded so hard it felt like it might burst. Each step felt like walking toward judgment.
At last, I stood in front of the cabin.
A strong stench leaked through the cracks in the door.
It was the smell of blood, waste, and rotting flesh mixed together.)
My hand trembled as I pressed it against the door.
“James, are you ready?” Cindy asked coldly behind me. “Once you open this door, there’s no turning back.”
“Fuck off!” I shouted and shoved the door open.
