Chapter 120 Bringing Cindy Back

Priscilla’s POV:

After locking that madwoman away, I was so angry that I didn’t sleep all night.

Early the next morning, I called Hannah into my room.

“This can’t go on,” I said, staring at the account books. Every page bled red ink. It made my chest ache. “Between paying to treat Evelyn’s injuries and throwing that cursed victory banquet, we’ve drained the fund dry. Now, creditors are lining up outside our door.”

“Grandma, what do we do?” Hannah panicked. “I haven’t even bonded yet. If the pack goes bankrupt, how am I supposed to marry a strong Alpha in the future?”

I narrowed my eyes. A piece of news I’d heard yesterday surfaced in my mind.

They said Cindy’s reward this time was enormous—thousands of pounds of gold, vast lands once held by the Silverpeak Pack, and more jewels and fine cloth than one could count.

Cindy was drowning in wealth now.

“Hannah,” I said gently, suddenly changing my tone, “tell me-wasn’t Cindy always the most obedient when she lived with us?”

Hannah paused. “Yes. Back then, she never went against you, but now…”

“Now she may be powerful,” I continued calmly, “but she’s still a woman without a mate. Titles don’t change that. In this world, an unbonded she-wolf is never considered complete. She looks glorious now, but what about the future of the Silverpeak bloodline? Do you think she’ll really let it end with her?”

Hannah’s eyes slowly lit up. “Grandma, you mean—”

“Rebonding.”

I spoke the word slowly, calculation flashing in my eyes. “James betrayed her; that was reckless, yes. But they were bound by fate once. He is her destined mate. Even if their bond was cut, feelings don’t disappear overnight.”

“But Luna-I mean, Cindy-would she even agree to this?” Hannah hesitated. “She didn’t even look at James at the banquet yesterday.”

“That’s just anger,” I said with a knowing wave of my hand. “A little push and pull. Women care about pride. Now that her status is higher, of course she has to act distant. As long as James lowers his pride and we give her a graceful way back, she’ll soften.”

The more I thought about it, the better it sounded.

“Look at Evelyn now,” I continued coldly. “She’s no longer fit to lead the pack. If Cindy comes back and takes her place again, Evelyn can be reduced to a breeder and tossed into the backyard to fend for herself. What happens to Cindy’s wealth and rewards? They all return to us.”
