Cindy’s POV:
The next morning, sunlight landed right on the stone steps of the estate, right on time.

There was no loud show of soldiers like I had expected. No lines of guards. No banners. Only two black luxury carriages sat quietly at the gate, each marked with the royal crest.
I stood at the entrance of the main hall and tugged at the hem of my dress, feeling awkward.
To show respect to King Ryken, and after strong advice from Tom, I hadn’t worn my combat uniform today. Instead, I was dressed in a silver-gray custom gown.
It was the traditional noble style of the Silverpeak Pack, formal and restrained. The silk fit close to my body. It looked elegant, but I felt trapped in it, like a doll tied up with ribbons. Armor always made me feel safer.
“They’re here,” Tom reminded softly.
A car door opened. A long leg stepped out.
When Prince Adam stood in front of me, I froze for a second.
On the battlefield at Southreach, I was used to seeing him covered in mud, armor stained with blood, and beard rough and wild.
Back then, he was the soldier who fought back-to-back with me. The man who only knew how to shout, “Charge!”
But the man standing here now was a true prince.
He wore a deep blue tailored suit, fitted perfectly to his frame. Gold-thread wolf patterns were stitched along the collar and cuffs.
His hair was neatly combed, showing a smooth, proud forehead,
Those eyes-usually sharp and full of danger-were calm now, deep like the ocean. They carried a natural authority and quiet power.
Diana let out an impressed hum in my mind. “Wow, Cindy. He actually dressed up today. He looks pretty good. And his scent, ocean mixed with tobacco. Very classy.”
Prince Adam walked up the steps. When his eyes landed on me, his steps slowed.
His gaze brushed over my face, paused briefly at my collarbone and waist, then quickly moved away. His
throat bobbed as he swallowed.
The steady scent in the air shifted for a moment, warmer than before.
“Cindy … no, Your Grace,” Prince Adam said, his voice tight. “I apologize for coming unannounced.”

“Your Highness, you’re too polite,” I replied, returning a half-military, half-formal curtsy. “Please, come in.”
After we sat down and exchanged a few polite words, the air felt stiff.
Prince Adam lifted his cup but didn’t drink. His eyes moved over the servants and Tom.
“Your Grace,” he said, setting the cup down. His expression turned serious. “What I’m about to say is very important. Could we clear the room? I’d like to speak with you alone.”
My heart tightened.
Was there trouble at Southreach again? Or a secret mission from King Ryken?
Tom clearly thought the same. As an experienced steward, he understood right away. “If this concerns sensitive matters, we will withdraw at once. Activate full soundproofing. No one is to come within 150 feet of the hall.”
“Yes!”
The servants left quickly. The doors closed behind them.
The large hall fell silent. Only Prince Adam and I remained.
