Chapter 139 Letting Go of Power

Prince Adam’s POV:

The moment I took her hand, my heart almost jumped out of my chest.

Heaven knows how much acting it took to make up that over-the-top “first love” story on the spot.

But if lying once could pull her into my world, then being a liar for a moment was worth it.

“Since we’re on the same page,” I said, forcing down the smile at the corner of my mouth, “let’s talk about the details. After we’re bonded, you can stay the alpha of your pack. You’ll keep full control. I won’t limit your freedom. And the finances of Silverpeak Pack will be entirely yours.”

“That sounds good.” Cindy nodded with satisfaction. “So what do I need to do?”

“You’ll need to…” I sighed and rubbed my temples, already feeling à headache coming on. “Deal with one person. My mother. Queen Isabella.”

Cindy raised an eyebrow. “Queen Isabella? I’ve met her before. She’s a bit proud, but she seemed reasonable.”

“That’s because you haven’t seen her true side.” I gave a bitter smile. “She’s a textbook omega-sensitive, controlling, and extremely picky. She’s always wanted me to marry a gentle noble omega who would serve her and obey her. And you…”

I looked her up and down. “You’re rebellious to the core, and you command real power as an Alpha. You’re basically her worst nightmare.

“She’ll try to set rules for you. Morning greetings, evening check-ins, even nitpicking how you speak and

act.”

Cindy let out a cold laugh, a spark of challenge flashing in her eyes. “Set rules for me? In Southreach, not even Blood Princes dared to do that. If she speaks to me properly, I’ll respect her as an elder. But if she tries to use her status as a mother-in-law to pressure me…” She looked straight at me. “Your Highness, that would be a family matter. You won’t interfere, right?”

“Of course not.” I answered immediately, with a hint of amusement. “Honestly, I think my mother could use a reality check. She’s been ruling the court for years, and even my father gives her space. If you make her stumble once or twice, I won’t be mad. I might even applaud.”

Cindy laughed. “You said it yourself. Don’t feel sorry for her later.”

“I won’t. Not at all.”

After parting ways with Cindy, I got back into the carriage. This time, I couldn’t hold back my grin.

“Drive! To the palace!”

I shouted to my guard, my voice filled with excitement I hadn’t felt in years.
