Chapter 145 Kindness Paid Back

Cindy’s POV:

After about another 20 minutes of walking, I heard a dull groan beside me.

Jewel finally couldn’t hold on anymore. She stumbled and almost fell onto the scorching stone path.

“Jewel!” I reacted fast and grabbed her arm.

Her lips had turned purple, and her breathing was rapid. It was clear that she was suffering from heat exhaustion.

I looked up at the maid leading us and realized she wasn’t doing well either.

She was an Omega too. Although she was a little stronger than Jewel, it wasn’t by much.

After walking in circles for so long, her face was flushed red. She swayed on her feet, her legs shaking as if they might give out at any second.

I didn’t waste words. I reached into my waist pouch and pulled out two blue glass vials.

They were high-grade heat recovery potions, custom-made by Rupert A single vial alone was worth dozens of gold coins.

“Drink this.” I pulled out the stopper and helped Jewel drink one vial.

Almost immediately, color returned to her pale face. Her breathing slowed and steadied.

I turned around and tossed the other vial to the maid, who looked like she was about to faint.

“Catch this.”

She scrambled to grab it, staring at me in a daze, clearly unable to process what had just happened.

“Drink it,” I said calmly. “Or you’ll collapse here too. You were only following orders, I don’t blame you. But there’s no need to risk your life for someone else’s command.”

The maid held the cold vial tightly, her expression conflicted.

She clearly hadn’t expected me to give such a valuable potion to someone who had deliberately made things hard for me.

After a brief hesitation, she gritted her teeth and tilted her head back, drinking it down.

I watched as the tension left her face and her tightly knit brows relaxed. The dizzy, suffocating feeling

must have faded.

“Th-thank you, Your Grace,” she said, her voice trembling.

She took a deep breath, as if making an important decision, then pointed toward a shaded path lined with

“Your Grace, that path is finished now. We can go that way. It leads straight through to Rose Palace. It’s only about a five-minute walk.”

I raised an eyebrow and smiled faintly. “Then please, lead the way.”

Five minutes later, the grand and elegant Rose Palace came into view.
