Chapter 226 Scars Are a Warrior’s Medals
Cindy’s POV:
“You’re still in the mood to joke, huh?”
I dipped a cotton ball in warm water and gently cleaned the blood from around his wounds.

I tried to be as gentle as possible, afraid of hurting him. He kept smiling at me the whole time. The heat in his gaze made my heart warm.
When I finished, I applied medicine and wrapped up the wound.
I tied the gauze into a neat bow.
“All done.” I patted the bow. “Even if you’re Ryken, don’t rely too much on your healing ability. If you tear the wound again and again, the scar will look awful-like a centipede.”
As I spoke, I held out my right hand and pointed to a faint white scar across the back. “See this? I got it when I was a kid, climbing a tree. I thought it was nothing and didn’t treat it properly, that’s why I still have the scar now.”
Prince Adam turned my hand over and gently brushed the nearly invisible scar with his fingertips. There was a teasing glint in his eyes. “Why should a male werewolf’s hands look pretty? As long as it can kill enemies, protect his she-wolf and the pups, that’s enough.”
“Looking nice is better than looking ugly.” I retorted seriously, trying to pull my hand back, but he only held on tighter.
He rolled up his sleeve, revealing his whole arm.
There, alongside the fresh wounds, were countless old scars-some from knives, some arrows, and some clearly left by a wild beast’s bite.
“Cindy, look at this one.” He pointed to a long scar on his forearm. “That’s from the first time I went into battle with my father. I got slashed by a giant snowfield bear.”
“This one’s from taking a blow for Chase, when we were wiping out a rogue wolf pack.”
He pointed out each scar as if cataloguing trophies. There was no pain in his voice-just a quiet pride.
I stared at those scars, and a strange, hard-to-describe feeling welled up in me.
It wasn’t fear or pity, but a deep sense of connection.
I rolled up my sleeve and showed the scar that cut clear across my left arm.
“I got this one on the Southreach battlefield. An arrowhead grazed me.”
I pointed at my shoulder. “Here, I was nicked by an enemy’s spear.”

Chapter 226 Scars Are a Warrior’s Medals
It was like we were two old soldiers, comparing our medals under the glow of candlelight.

“These are all our medals of honor.” Prince Adam looked at me, his gaze turning deep and intense. “Yours and mine. Every drop of blood we’ve shed matters.”
A strange, wordless understanding hung between us.
A little later, Tom came to say that the Kazeks were resting in the guest rooms, worn out after days of travel and strong emotions. Uncle Roger had told us to focus on taking care of Astra and not to worry about seeing them off.
Soon, it was just Prince Adam and me left in the side hall.
Jewel brought over hot tea. As the steam curled up, I looked at the man across from me, gratitude swelling inside me like a tide.
“Prince Adam.”
I set my cup down and looked at him earnestly. “Thank you for everything you have done for us today. If it weren’t for you, I wouldn’t have known what to do. Not just with the surgery, but Astra too…”
My voice broke. “If you hadn’t sent people to find him, he might have died somewhere out there-starved or frozen in a nameless ditch. I’ve had so many nightmares where wild dogs pick over his body… You saved Silverpeak Pack’s last hope.”
