Prince Adam’s POV:

As I drew close to the gates of the kingdom, I felt like I could barely breathe.

Sunlight poured through the archway, and that figure in a deep red velvet gown, crowned with laurel pearls, looked like a miracle sent down by the Moon Goddess.

The breath-veil on her face shimmered with a faint silver glow. Even though it hid her features, I felt as if I could see through the thin fabric-see those cool silver-gray eyes, see the faint hint of a smile at the corner of her lips.

“Awoo…”

My wolf spirit, Fenrir, was rolling and howling wildly inside my mindscape. It was a pure, primal urge to rush up and possess our mate immediately.

“Calm down! You stupid wolf!” I roared inside my head, trying to crush the desire that made me want to transform on the spot. “This is a wedding! Be graceful! Act like a prince!”

I took a deep breath and stepped toward the magnificent carriage.

By ancient custom, the bride should be handed from her mentor or father to the guiding “guardian knight,” who would then help her into the carriage.

But I ignored the royal knight commander waiting beside us in silver armor.

I was her Alpha. Only I had the right to hold her hand.

I stopped in front of her and reached out.

My palm was wide and rough with calluses from years of gripping a sword. Gold wolf patterns were embroidered along my cuff.

Yet this hand-one that had slain countless vampires without ever trembling-was now shaking slightly.

My palm was damp with sweat, sticky and warm.

Cindy must have felt my nerves. Instead of looping her arm through mine like tradition said, she simply placed her lace-gloved hand directly into my palm.

The moment our hands touched, a strange current shot through my whole body.

Even through the glove, I could clearly feel her pulse beating in the same rhythm as my

Thump, thump, thump.

It was strong, alive, full of life.

I clumsily closed my hand around hers. I was so nervous that my fingers felt stiff. I adjusted my grip several times before finally locking our fingers together.

“Got you,” I told myself silently. “Now that I’ve caught you, I’ll never let go for the rest of my life.”

Dean Dross stood nearby, his hawk-sharp eyes fixed on me. He let out a heavy snort, clearly unhappy that I had ignored the rules. His stare practically shouted, “If you dare let her fall, you’re dead.”

I pretended not to notice and led Cindy down the steps, one slow step at a time.

The red carpet beneath my feet felt soft as clouds, like I was walking on cotton. My head spun, as if I had drunk ten barrels of the strongest dwarf liquor.

It was the feeling of being dizzy with happiness.

We reached the grand wedding carriage, decorated with laurel branches, white roses, and golden bells.

According to the ceremony, I should gracefully hold her waist and lift her inside.

I released her hand and placed both hands gently at her slender waist.

Even through the thick velvet gown, I could feel how slim and flexible she was.

“Go ahead,” I whispered softly, ready to lift.

But…

The instant I tried to use my strength, my knees suddenly went weak. The muscles in my arms stiffened from too much tension and refused to move.

It felt like my body had slipped out of my brains control, as if all my strength had been drained away by an emotion called overwhelming joy.
