After Hannah dragged Ms. Cindy away, it felt like sharp claws were squeezing my chest, panic choking my breath.
Moonwhisper Residence’s courtyard was deathly quiet, the air thick with a heavy, uneasy silence.
I stood frozen by the door, my fingers clenched tightly as I replayed Ms. Cindy’s words in my mind. “Your safety is the most important thing. If anyone comes for the visible treasures, let them take it.” But thinking about those crates full of Ms. Cindy’s Silverpeak Pack legacy and the hopes of her father and brothers, I couldn’t bring myself to move.
I had to protect them. Even if there was only the smallest chance left, I couldn’t let those greedy vipers get their hands on Ms. Cindy’s treasures!
I stared at the gate, my ears straining for any sound, praying Ms. Cindy would come back safe.
Time seemed to freeze; each second dragged on like a knife slicing into my soul.
Soon, the gate was kicked open with savage female werewolves.

Their eyes gleamed like starving wolves, greedily scanning the valuables Ms. Cindy had left in plain sight–gold and silver cups, soft furs, crystal coins glinting in the firelight.
“Well, Cindy sure wasn’t stingy leaving all these goodies behind!” Hannah sneered, her fangs flashing. “Too bad they won’t belong to her for much longer!”
My whole body trembled, my legs ready to give out beneath me.
But thinking of Ms. Cindy’s trust and the honor of the Silverpeak Pack, I clenched my teeth and threw my arms out, blocking the crates. “You’re not touching Ms. Cindy’s things! These belong to the Silverpeak Pack!”
Hannah laughed coldly, her eyes dripping with scorn. “You, an Omega, actually think you can stop us? Get lost! This stuff belongs to the Duskfang Pack now!”
With a cruel wave, the werewolves behind her lunged forward like hungry tigers, their claws out to snatch the loot.
“No!” I shouted, desperation fueling the wolf spirit inside me as I shifted into my small Omega wolf form.

But how could an Omega like me stand a chance against Beta and Gamma she–wolves?
They brushed me aside easily, claws ripping through my fur, the sharp scent of blood filling the air.
Enraged by my resistance, Hannah shifted into her wolf form with a savage snarl and attacked first. Her fangs sank into my shoulder, agony exploding through me, but I bit down hard on one of the crates and refused to let go.
“I’m gonna kill you!” Hannah roared, smashing her paw down on my head.
My vision blurred and darkened as I collapsed, blood streaming down my face.
The others took the chance to grab the crates, greedily dividing the gold, silver, and crystals among themselves.
I tried to get up but was too weak to lift my head forced to watch helplessly as they emptied Ms. Cindy’s treasures, leaving the room empty and chaotic.
Guilt and despair flooded me like poison.
I had failed Ms. Cindy!
Tears of blood slid down my cheeks as I gathered my last strength to let out a desperate wolf howl, full of helplessness and sorrow for Ms. Cindy.
The sound tore through the night, carrying the faint flicker of hope I had left.
Just as I felt my soul slipping away to the Moon Goddess, a fierce Alpha presence burst into Moonwhisper Residence like a violent storm! The door shattered, wood flying everywhere.
I tried to raise my head. Through the haze, I saw Ms. Cindy bathed in glowing light, murder in her eyes as she stood in the doorway!
Her gaze had shifted to a pure silver–white, the awakened mark of the Northmere silver wolf bloodline!
Cindy’s POV:
Jewel’s howl pierced my heart. The moment I stormed into Moonwhisper Residence, the sight before me made my blood boil!
Jewel lay bleeding, looking battered and broken, her tiny wolf form barely holding on.
