Chapter 41 The Bloody Interrogation Records.
Cindy’s POV:
I had to confirm my suspicion.

It was deep into the night. Thick clouds covered the moon, making it the perfect time to move unseen.
I changed into a black night gear and used a special solution to erase my scent.
With the stealth skills I learned at the academy and the natural concealment granted by my bloodline, I slipped into the Royal Court.
My target was clear-the Royal Court’s military archives.
That place held every battle report from the front lines, including details that were never meant to be
seen.
Avoiding the patrols was easy. As a silver wolf, I could smell a guard from more than a hundred yards
away.
I moved around them without effort, climbed into the records office, and quickly found the file I wanted, the Battle of Evernight Gorge. The battle that made James and Evelyn famous.
I took out the moonpearl I carried with me. Its faint, cold glow lit the pages as I read.
The further I read, the colder my heart became. My hands and feet felt numb.
The report said James and Evelyn arrived with reinforcements. The fighting was brutal. My third brother was stabbed through the heart with a spear. Uncle Barnaby was beheaded and displayed as a warning.
Then came the “heroic” ending. James and Evelyn led their troops into the vampires’ castle, destroyed the blood vaults, and bravely captured several minor nobles.
According to the report, it was because of these prisoners that the vampires suddenly surrendered.
There was not a single word about killing those who had already surrendered. Not a word about slaughtered villages. Only pages filled with praise and glory.
But in the appendix-within the logistics records-I noticed something strange. On the very night those minor nobles were captured, Evelyn had requested a large supply of torture tools from the quartermaster. Along with them, she also requested strong acid to be used to wash blood from stone floors.
One more detail caught my eye. In the night watch logs, a guard had written a small complaint, easy to miss. “The screaming from the castle dungeon lasted all night and gave me the creeps. Even the horses were too frightened to eat.”
What exactly had Evelyn done that night?
If it had been just a normal interrogation, the proud vampires would never have been so afraid. They would not have surrendered so quickly just to get their captives back.

Unless Evelyn tortured them or she crossed a line so deep that the vampires believed this, ‘if we don’t surrender, these nobles will suffer something worse than death’.
She used cruel, shameful methods to create the illusion of peace. And in doing so, she pushed the entire werewolf world toward disaster.
I put the files back where they belonged, erased every trace, and left at once.
By the time I returned to the Silverpeak Pack, it was already the third day.
Jewel was waiting at the gate, anxious and exhausted. Her eyes were red and swollen.
