Chapter 45 The Final Goodbye
Chapter 45 The Final Goodbye
Cindy’s POV:
The night was as dark as ink, it looked like it swallowed the entire capital.
I sat at the desk and used the faint moonlight to write a letter to Jewel.

This was one of the hardest moments of my life, much harder than facing an army on the battlefield.
Jewel and I grew up together. She was my maid, but she was more like a sister.
This trip to Southreach was dangerous, and I had little hope to survive. I could not take her to hell with
“Jewel, by the time you read this, I will already be gone. Please forgive me for leaving without saying goodbye. Where I am going is a war zone. There is no place for you there. You have a more important task in hand. Help me rebuild Silverpeak Pack. When I return alive, I want to come back to a home that is safer and more comfortable.”
When I finished the last word, my eyes burned.
I folded the letter and placed it under my pillow. I took a deep breath and forced myself to put away all
weakness.
There was something more important to do.
I walked to the window and opened a hidden compartment.
Inside was a messenger bird with black feathers and a red beak. It was a Night Dove, a special bird from the academy. These birds never fly normal routes. They travel through the shadows, move extremely fast, and are almost impossible to stop.
I quickly wrote a tiny note. It held only a few coded words. “Southreach is in danger. Vampire invasion. Send reinforcements at once, Cindy.”
I slid the note into the thin tube on the bird’s leg, holding it gently, and I whispered a short spell
The Night Dove’s red eyes flashed. Its body turned into a stream of black smoke and melted into the night without a sound.
“The message is sent,” Diana whispered in my mind. “If that lunatic Viola finds out that someone is bullying us, she’ll probably tear down the capital’s walls herself.”
“That’s why I sent her to Southreach, not here,” I said with a bitter smile. “And now, it’s our turn.”
I picked up the Nullwater Morton had given me and tipped my head back, drinking it in one gulp.
A sharp, icy cold slid down my throat and spread through my body in seconds.
My heartbeat slowed. My body temperature dropped. Even Diana’s wild, raging presence was wrapped in

an invisible layer, completely sealed off.
Right now, to a werewolf’s senses, I was nothing. Like a stone. Like empty air.
I glanced at the water clock in the corner.
The moon was already hidden behind dark clouds.

I changed into a set of black night gear. I tied my long hair high and covered my mouth and nose with dark cloth, leaving only my eyes exposed.
I brought nothing with me, except my Soulrip Gauntlets.
“It’s time. I muttered.
As the water clock made its final drip. I felt it. The faint pressure in the air suddenly weakened. A crack. The wards were momentarily pausing, indicating the weak point of the seal.
I have three seconds.
“Run!” Diana ordered.
