Chapter 77 Jealousy

Cindy’s POV:

The morning wind cut in sharp and cold, kicking dust into the air as it swept across the southern training grounds.

Ahead of me were 15,000 werewolf soldiers in thick black iron armor stood in a perfect square.

They were the Gamma guards, the Royal Court’s toughest shield and the deadliest weapon in Adam’s

grasp.

Most of them were Gammas without an Alpha’s natural dominance, but their physiques were terrifying, their endurance monstrous, and their enchanted armor was strong enough to withstand vampire claws.

“Attention!”

I stood atop the command platform. My voice wasn’t raised, yet Alpha pressure wove through it and carried clearly across the field.

Boom! 15,000 iron boots struck the ground together, making the earth tremble.

A crushing, kill-or-be-killed aura surged outward.

Adam stood beside me and spoke quietly. “This unit’s proud to the bone. Other than me, they’ve never bowed to anyone. You’ve got battle merit, but forging them into one will take some effort.”

I studied the eyes hidden behind their visors. Most held discipline, but many carried doubt and disdain.

“I know.” I ran my fingers over the Soulrip Gauntlets at my waist. “Wolves bow to strength. I’ll force them to submit, without exception.”

Evelyn’s POV:

I stood in the shadow of a distant tent, glaring venomously at the figure on the platform.

Why her?

That position should have been mine. Those fifteen thousand elite heavy troops should have been my ace.

Cindy wore a sleek black combat suit, her red cape snapping violently in the wind like living fire.

She stood beside Adam, reviewing the army from above, radiant and untouchable.

And me? I was nothing now. No authority, no rank, no place.

I didn’t even deserve to stand beneath that platform.

“Had enough?” James came up behind me, his voice tired. “Let’s go. Watching this won’t help. It’ll just hurt

more.”

“I’m not leaving!” I spun around and pointed furiously at the platform. “Alpha, can’t you see it? This is all a performance. Adam’s backing her and handing over the Royal Court’s best troops. It’s not fair!”

James frowned. “Evelyn, Cindy does have real ability. Back at the granary defense…”

“That was pure luck!” I screamed. “And Adam probably forced that credit onto her. Alpha, think about it. She couldn’t even kill a chicken at home. How does someone like that turn into a war goddess overnight? She had to cheat!”

I grabbed James’s arm, my eyes flashing with malice. “Alpha, we can’t let this go. If we don’t expose her, we’ll never be able to hold our heads up again in the Duskfang Pack.”

“What are you planning?” James asked cautiously.

“Public opinion.” I laughed coldly. “What does an army fear most? Unfairness. I’ll make sure everyone believes Cindy slept her way into favor. I’ll make her own soldiers despise her.”

James’ expression shifted. “You can’t spread that kind of filth. If His Highness hears…”

“What are you afraid of? They can’t punish everyone,” I interrupted. Besides, Alpha, do you really know why Sulanki withdrew at Evernight Gorge?”
