Chapter 80 Sacred Duel
Chapter 80 Sacred Duel
James’ POV:
The command tent was in the middle of a war council.
Adam was explaining the strategy to seize the vampire stronghold called Bloodmoor Castle.
All of a sudden, the tent flap was ripped open.
Evelyn charged in, fully armored.
I tried to stop her, but I was too late.
“Your Highness!” Evelyn yelled, cutting off the advisor mid-sentence. “I object!”
Every officer in the tent scowled.

Adam looked at her coldly. “Evelyn, this is a military council. Who allowed you in here? Leave at once.”
“I have something to say!” Evelyn raised her chin and pointed straight at Cindy, who was seated to Adam’s lower left. “Your Highness, you’re playing favorites. You put someone full of tricks and illusions in charge of the Gamma Guard. That’s gambling with every soldier’s life. I won’t accept it. I’m formally filing charges against Cindy!”
“That’s outrageous!” Spike slammed his palm on the table. “The Duchess of Silverpeak’s battle achievements are obvious to everyone. Who do you think you are, barking here?”
“Achievements? All fabricated!” Evelyn shrieked. “Miguel was acting with her! Those vampire kills were done by others and credited to her name! She’s nothing but an empty shell!”
She spun toward Cindy, her eyes wild. “Cindy, do you dare prove yourself? I challenge you to the werewolves’ oldest Sacred Duel. If you lose, get out of camp and hand over command of the Gamma Guard to me!”
The Sacred Duel.
It was the most direct and brutal way werewolves resolved conflict. Once declared, it ended only in death or total submission.
The tent erupted in chaos.
I shut my eyes in anguish.
Evelyn had completely lost it.
She truly had.
Cindy slowly stood up.
She looked at Evelyn as if she were a clown performing onstage.

“You want to duel me?” Cindy asked calmly, her voice icy enough to freeze blood. “All for power?”
“Exactly. The strong should lead,” Evelyn said smugly. “I’m stronger than you, so I deserve command of the elites.”
“Fine.” Cindy nodded. “I accept.”
She turned to Adam. “Your Highness, since Evelyn insists on disgracing herself, I’ll comply. But since this is a Sacred Duel, there must be proper stakes.”
