Chapter 91 The Bait
Chapter 91 The Bait
Evelyn’s POV:
It was chaos!
Screams, blood, and fighting everywhere.
I led 300 of my most loyal followers through the twisting, narrow alleys.

I refused to accept it. Why was it always Cindy breaking through? Why did she always get all the glory?
The image of her standing on the wall, cutting down enemies, burned into my mind.
If only I had that kind of power … if only I were an Alpha…
“General! Look over there!”
My cousin, Timothy Rusell, suddenly grabbed my arm and pointed toward a side street hidden in shadow.
I squinted, and my heart started pounding.
A group of people in luxurious velvet robes was retreating deeper into the city, escorted by dozens of elite guards.
Golden bat crests adorned their clothes. That symbol was only reserved for vampire royalty or nobles!
“Nobles! Vampire nobles!” My voice trembled with excitement. “Maybe even Franklin’s family!”
That would be a huge win.
If we could capture a few royals or take out Franklin’s relatives, Cindy’s glory for breaching the city would mean nothing.
I, Evelyn, would steal the spotlight-maybe even earn a title and a seat at court!
“After them! Move!” I shouted, raising my sword.
“Evelyn! Come back!” James yelled from behind.
He was leading a unit clearing nearby enemies, and he’d clearly seen the same thing.
“Don’t go! It’s bait!” he warned. “Franklin isn’t dumb. He wouldn’t let his family expose themselves like that right now. It’s a trap! Pull back and regroup with the main unit!”
A trap?
I sneered.
James was just bitter. He was scared I’d rack up more merit than that bitch!

“Big rewards mean big risks!” I shot him a harsh look. “James, you can hide if you want, but I won’t. When I catch the vampire prince, I’ll make you crawl!
“Guys, let’s go!”
I blocked out James’s yelling and led my 300 loyal followers straight into the dark, winding alley.
Prince Adam’s POV:
I stood atop the battlements, giving orders as our troops split up and closed in on the last enemy groups.
“Your Highness.” Cindy came over to me. Her injuries were wrapped in a hurry. “Evelyn has left the main unit. She went into the inner city’s dead-end district.”
I followed her gaze and saw a flash of red disappear around a corner.
