Justice has begun
(Isla)
I stood over the chamber while silence surrounded me.
Every wolf remained on one knee beneath me. Their heads stayed lowered, and none of them dared meet my eyes for more than a moment. I had never wanted anyone to bow to me, yet none of them could resist what Vaela had become.
Pain settled deep inside me.
The anger was still there, but it no longer burned alone. I could feel every memory of the chains, the hunger, the cold nights, and the voices telling me I was nothing. They all stood beside me as if they had never left.
Vaela stepped closer inside me.
‘He lied to everyone.’
‘He stole everything from us.’
I didn’t answer.
My eyes remained on Evander. He still knelt with his head lowered, but I remembered the man from my vision standing over Rodan without fear. He had ordered my life to be destroyed as though I had never mattered.
The bond wrapped around me.
Caius remained beside me. Even in my wolf form, I could feel him through our bond. He never tried to hold me back.
He was reminding me that I wasn’t alone.
‘He deserves to die, Vaela said.
‘Not here, I answered.
‘Then when?’
I had no answer.
Every part of me wanted justice. Another part wanted him to feel every day I had spent chained inside that shack. Death suddenly felt too easy for what he had done.
The Chief Elder slowly lifted his head.
His eyes settled on me before moving toward Caius. He took a careful breath as though choosing every word.
“Your majesty.”.
The title spread through the chamber.
<Justice has begun.
Several elders repeated it in quiet voices. The guards followed a moment later, and soon every wolf present spoke the same words.
“Your Majesty.”
I froze.
They weren’t speaking to Caius.
They were speaking to me.
I looked toward Caius.

He smiled as he met my eyes. Pride filled our bond, but there was no surprise inside him. It was as though Vorak had already accepted what every other wolf had only just realized.
The Chief Elder lowered his head again.
“The Council recognizes the Celestial Queen.”
His voice carried through the chamber. Every word settled over the wolves gathered before me.
“From this day forward, no law shall stand above her authority.”
A murmur spread through the elders.
None of them challenged the declaration. Whatever doubts they had carried disappeared the moment Vaela revealed herself.
My eyes returned to Evander.
He still hadn’t looked at me again. His hands rested/against the stone floor, and his breathing had become
uneven.
I took one step toward him.
Silence held everyone in place.
No one tried to stop me. No one questioned where I was going.
I stopped only a few feet away.
Evander stayed where he was. His head remained lowered, and his hands rested against the stone floor. He still couldn’t bring himself to look at me.
Vaela stood tall.
Her ears pointed forward as she watched him. A low growl left her chest, carrying across the chamber without a single wolf daring to move.
Evander flinched.
The sound reached him, and his shoulders became rigid. He took a slow breath before finally lifting his
head.

Our cyes met.
His gaze lasted only a moment. Whatever he saw in my silver eyes was enough to break what little confidence he still had.
He looked away.
No one spoke. No one interrupted what was happening before them.
Vaela took another step.

My claws touched the stone floor. Every movement brought me closer until I stood directly in front of him.
Evander lowered his head again.
He couldn’t face me. The man who had ordered my life to be destroyed couldn’t even meet my eyes.
Another growl left Vaela.
It wasn’t loud. It didn’t need to be.
Every wolf in the chamber heard it.
The sound carried years of pain. It carried every night spent chained inside that shack and every lie that had stolen my place in the world.
Tears filled Evander’s eyes.
His lips parted, but no words came. The powerful elder who had controlled everyone around him was gone. An exhausted old man knelt in his place.
The Chief Elder rose to his feet.
The other elders remained where they were. None of them questioned what they had witnessed.
“The truth has been revealed,” the Chief Elder said.
His voice carried through the chamber. Every wolf listened without taking their eyes off me.
“Evander.”
The old elder looked up.
“You will answer for your crimes before this Council.”
Two guards stepped forward.
Neither one hesitated. They stopped beside Evander and waited for the Chief Elder’s next order.
“Take him into custody.”
Evander closed his eyes.
He offered no resistance. Every secret he had protected had been dragged into the light.
Nobody objected.

The guards helped Evander to his feet. His head remained lowered as they led him away from the center of the chamber. Not a single elder spoke in his defense.
Caius stepped forward.
His eyes swept across the chamber before settling on the Council. His voice carried the authority every wolf present recognized.
“The hearing is over.”
No one questioned him.
“The Council will reconvene once Evander has been secured. Until then, everyone except the Chief Elder and Pryor will leave this chamber.”
The elders rose one by one.
The guards escorted the witnesses toward the doors. Within moments, the crowded chamber began to empty until only a handful of wolves remained.
Caius turned toward Pryor.
“Pryor.”
