The promise kept

We barely made it back to our quarters before I shut the door behind us. Isla turned to me at once, and whatever patience we’d both carried through the Council was gone. My hands went to her clothes and hers went to mine, neither of us pretending we wanted grace more than speed. Fabric hit the floor piece by piece while she kissed me like she’d been holding that back all morning.
I backed her against the door and she laughed once under her breath before pulling me right back to her. Her fingers worked at my shirt, then lower, urgent now, certain. I dragged her top over her head and looke at her for one second before kissing her again, harder this time. She reached for my belt and said my name like a command.
I lifted her and she wrapped herself around me without hesitation!
“Bedroom,” she said, though neither of us moved.
“In a minute,” I answered, and she smiled against my mouth like she knew that was a lie.
I carried her anyway.
She kept kissing me the whole way, one hand in my hair, the other working the rest of my shirt open while crossed the room. By the time I got her to the bed, neither of us had much left on. I set her down for all o half a second before she caught my wrist and pulled me back between her knees.
“Caius.”
That tone alone was enough to finish whatever patience I had left.
I got her under me and kissed her until she stopped trying to speak at all. Her hands moved over my ches my back, lower, learning nothing new and wanting all of it anyway. When I finally pushed inside her, she gasped against my mouth and held on to me hard. I gave her what she’d wanted since we left the chamber, deep and rough enough to make the bed shift beneath us. She met every thrust like she’d been waiting all day to be taken apart by it.
When she came, it hit her fast. I felt it in the way her body tightened around me, in the broken sound she made with my name. I followed not long after, buried deep while she held me there like she had no intention of letting me go.
I stayed over her, breathing hard, still buried inside her while the last of her shudders moved through both of us. Isla’s hands slid up my back and held me there as if she had no intention of letting me go yet. Fine by me. I kissed her once, then again, slower this time, and felt her smile against my mouth.
“You’re not done,” she said softly.
“No,” I said. “Not even close.”
That earned me the look I wanted. Warm, wanting, a little dangerous. I drew back just enough to see her properly, then shifted my hand down between us and touched her until her breath caught all over again. She opened for me at once, still sensitive, still wanting, and when I started moving again she arched beneath me with a broken sound that went straight through me.

trolled us and took her with me, settling her over me so she could find her own rhythm this time. Her hair fell around us as she moved, one hand braced on my chest, the other tangled with mine. I watched her ride me, patient for all of three seconds before my hands went to her hips and helped. She laughed once at that, breathless, then lost the laugh entirely when I drove up harder.
“Caius…”
“Again,” I said.
She came with my name on her mouth, and I followed a few thrusts later, holding her down against me while we both shook through it. Even then neither of us moved to stop. She kissed me lazy and deep, and I already knew this bed was not getting a moment’s peace before nightfall.
I kept her with me for a moment after, one hand at her back, the other on her hip, feeling the way her breathing slowly started to settle even while her body still answered mine. Isla rested her forehead against mine and smiled, the satisfied sort that always made me want to ruin her all over again. I kissed her once, more careful this time, then let my mouth drift to her throat. She shivered and laughed under her breath.
“Careful,” she murmured.
“That would be wise,” I said, though neither of us sounded interested in wisdom.
Vorak had started pushing forward again, stirred by her scent, by the taste of her, by the simple fact that she was still draped over me and not nearly as finished as she pretended to be. He wanted control. Wanted another round. Wanted to pin her down and take what she was already offering. I held him back with effort and ran my hands up her sides instead, slow enough to keep us both on the right side of losing
sense.
“Vorak is close,” she said quietly.
