Chapter 97-1

Claire

Shit, that damn woman had to ruin my plans, but I won’t let them go scot-free. I followed their car like I’ve been doing since they arrived, I need to get my perfect revenge on this family.

Every time I try to close in, that damn Lună always snaps her head toward me, like she can feel someone watching her, even though her husband doesn’t sense a thing.

Maybe I should’ve poisoned their food when I had the chance, but no, I want him to watch as I slowly kill his family. That’ll be the perfect revenge on Alpha Osborne, that monster.

I followed them closely, watching as their convoy veered not toward their home but the direction of the airport. Why were they leaving so suddenly? Why cut the night short and head off like that? Panic crawled up my spine, if they got away now, I might not have the chance to carry out my revenge for a long time.

That meant it was time for the last plan I’d been saving. I only had one real move left. If they tried to escape, I’d pull the switch.

The bomb was already planted in their car, my final, ugly insurance. They won’t see it coming as their car will go off in smoke. I should have planted them in their escort cars but there was no time for me to do so before they left for the party.

I pressed the detonator. Nothing. I pressed it again. Still nothing. Third time, still silence. My breath shortened. The device wouldn’t work. Why wasn’t it working?

Panic rushed through me like wildfire, my heart pounding in my chest. Before I could react, another car skidded in front of me, blocking my path. Then another slammed to a stop behind me. And another from the side, until I was boxed in completely.

“Shit,” I hissed under my breath, gripping the steering wheel tight. Was I caught? No, that couldn’t be. It wasn’t possible. But the cars kept inching closer, pressing me in, making escape impossible.

I slammed my foot on the gas, aiming straight for the one in front. If I could just break through it but the moment my car collided, it was like hitting a wall. My vehicle crumpled from the impact while theirs didn’t even flinch. “Fuck,” I spat, realizing too late, it was bulletproof.

Smoke curled from my hood, and I gritted my teeth. This wasn’t good. The convoy came to a halt, surrounding me like vultures waiting for their prey to drop. I reached for my gun, cocking it fast, eyes darting between the cars. If anyone dared to step out, I’d pull the trigger without hesitation.

But something was off. I squinted at the vehicles around me-no pack flags, no markings, nothing

that tied them to Osborne’s men. That sent a cold jolt through me.

Clair

Did he play me? No. I saw them leave with my own eyes. I saw their car. Unless… it was a decoy. Damn it.

I tried to yank the door open, but it wouldn’t budge, my car was jammed tight against theirs. Before

I could think of another move, men in black suits stepped out one by one, guns raised, faces

unreadable.

“This is not happening,” I muttered, my voice low and trembling with rage..

Adrenaline surged through me. I dropped the gun, bones cracking as I shifted, fur bursting through

skin, claws digging into the metal beneath me. With a snarl, I smashed through the windshield, glass scattering in every direction as I lunged out of the car in full form.

My growl echoed through the night as I crouched low, ready to tear apart whoever came near. They formed a circle around me, guns aimed, steady hands, no fear in their eyes.

Who the hell were these people?

Suddenly, a man stepped out of the car beside mine, golden hair glinting under the lights, and a creepy smile plastered on his face and the moment I saw him, my blood ran cold. It wasn’t Osborne, it was Dylan Cook.
