After so many years, life moved on the way it was meant to. My reign as Alpha turned out to be a successful one-far better than my father’s, who had long stepped down to settle peacefully with his mate.

And not once, after that day, did I cry for Aria again. I didn’t think of her, not in any deep way. My love for my wife grew stronger with every second that passed.

But then my son brought a girl to Alex’s mating ceremony. Even though he knew-he knew very well-that I wanted him to marry someone else. I wanted him with Bella. She would have made a perfect match for him.

The moment I heard he had brought another girl, the one he had claimed I was already planning to tell her right there at the ceremony that my son was betrothed. As we walked forward and Benson

greeted us, I stood in front of my boy and he greeted me and so did the girl by his side.

And then… the moment my eyes fell on the girl he claimed, for the briefest second, my eyes widened. But I forced myself to stay composed.

For that one instant, I thought I was seeing Aira again. But her build, her innocence-everything

about her-made it clear she wasn’t Aria.

Instead, I kept quiet and simply watched the wedding unfold. But the children… their behavior

made it obvious something wasn’t right.

When the ceremony finally ended, Osborne walked beside his mate. I didn’t want to crush her little fantasies-not yet. Maybe once everything was over, I would approach her and let her know I had already chosen someone for my son.

But seeing how clingy Osborne was with her, I felt the urge to tease him.

“She isn’t going to run away,” I said.

The girl turned to look at me and smiled-so sweetly that, for a heartbeat, I swallowed. That smile…

it was so much like Aira’s.

But my son immediately countered, “Why don’t you mind your business? You have your mate.”

And we started teasing each other until my wife stepped in.

Still, I wanted to know more about his mate, so I asked, “Aren’t you going to introduce your mate?”

To my surprise, the girl was bold enough to answer for herself, which earned her a bit of respect.

“I am Aina Wilfred.”

The moment her name left her mouth, my heart stopped for a second. I didn’t even realize when

the words slipped out of me:

“Is your mother Aria?”

Aina stared at me, stunned. Olivia and Osborne froze too.

That was when I realized I had made a mistake. She nodded, and I swallowed hard just before my

wife tried to hurry us along.

What in the world was happening?

Why would Osborne choose the daughter of the mate I betrayed and rejected through a letter?

The whole time, I kept staring at her, wondering why the Moon Goddess could be so cruel.

But as Alpha, I had duties, distractions-so I excused myself, moved around the hall, chatting, congratulating, pretending everything inside me wasn’t slowly unraveling.

For a while, the ceremony stayed peaceful. Until it wasn’t.
