The Alpha's Chubby Obsession. novel Chapter 289

“But for Derek to make him believe he killed her… knowing she chose to give her life for him…” she trailed off, shaking her head. “It makes me furious.”

She carefully arranged the teacups on a tray.

Then, just before picking it up, she added quietly-

“She even gave him his name. It was her father’s.”

And with that, she turned and walked back toward the table.

I followed behind her, my thoughts heavy with everything I had just heard.

When my mom placed the tray on the table and handed him a cup of tea, he accepted it with a quiet, “Thank you.”

He didn’t ask any more questions. Instead, he simply took a sip, as though lost in thought.

My mom offered Ralia a cup as well, and she accepted it politely. Soon, we were all seated.

“Ah, Idara,” my mom suddenly said, turning to me, “tell me… how is that guy treating you?”

I nearly choked on my tea.

That guy?

She couldn’t possibly be referring to Helio like that.

“Well…” I started, carefully setting my cup down and clearing my throat, “for one, he treats me well.”

I hoped she would leave it at that.

There were other people here, after all.

“He better,” she replied immediately. “Or I’ll come there myself and take you away from him.”

That earned a small laugh from Mr. Gabe.

“I don’t think he would allow that,” he said, shaking his head slightly.

My mom clicked her tongue. “I suppose you’re right.”
