Chapter 55
Aina
I didn’t know how we even reached the mansion, but we did. The Luna was in another car, so I couldn’t see her.
This couldn’t be true. I was still in denial. My mother couldn’t have kept such a secret-that she was once Alpha Owen’s lover, and worse, that they had a child together. She was too proud, not someone to keep something like that hidden… or maybe I didn’t know my mom as well as I thought.
While I was lost in my thoughts, Osborne had been handling everything. Alpha Owen was nowhere to be seen and Luna had been devastated.
sat down in a daze, and soon I heard footsteps. Osborne appeared, his expression calm as he
came toward me. “Are you calm now?” he asked gently.
I forced myself to nod, even managing a small smile. “How’s your mother?” I asked.
His demeanor shifted, and I could see the weight of it all pressing down on him. He sighed,
kneeling in front of me until our eyes locked.
“You knew something, didn’t you?” I whispered.
He hesitated before answering, his tone apologetic. “I found out a few weeks ago that your mom
was my father’s mate.” My chest tightened as he paused, then added, “But I didn’t know about the
child. It was only when she visited with your brother that my mother and I knew of it.”
What? Did I just hear him say mate and not just lover? I couldn’t fathom that my mother was
actually Alpha Owen’s mate, how come? It was shocking as well as surprising that they had known
themselves in that way lovers do.
I swallowed hard, nodding. “Then why didn’t you tell me?”
The hurt wasn’t really directed at him-it was for my mom. Still, I needed to hear his answer.
“I thought there was no need,” he admitted honestly. “But now… I see it’s bigger than us.”
I nodded again, quietly absorbing his words.
“This was supposed to be our honeymoon,” he muttered under his breath.
I tilted my head and flicked his forehead sharply.
“Ouch!” he complained.

“Seriously? You’re thinking about a honeymoon when there’s a bigger problem?” I scolded, glaring at him.
“Bigger problem?” he teased, his tone playful.
“Don’t you find it weird that we share a sibling?” I shot back.
But Osborne only grinned. “That just means our bond will be stronger.”
I couldn’t help but shake my head at him. Maybe it was silly, but I needed that little joke, and it managed to draw a smile out of me.
Tomorrow, the whole pack would know that Alpha Owen had fathered a child with his daughter-in-law’s mother-a child born out of wedlock.
Osborne must have noticed the heavy look on my face because he reached out, cupping my head gently. “Wipe that look away, Aina. I know this is a trying time, but nothing will change between us.
“You think so?” I asked softly.
He nodded without hesitation. “I know so.” Then he pressed his lips to mine, sealing his promise.
As soon as he released my lips, the question slipped out of me. “Do you think she had a good reason to hide that from everyone?”
Osborne nodded slowly, his gaze steady. “I think she did, Aina. But it would be best if you let her explain it to you herself.”
I smiled, he was being so sweet, helping me get out my bad mood while he himself is worried, such a selfless man.
“The only problem in all of this,” Osborne admitted, his shoulders sagging as if weighed down, “is my mom. It’s still such a shock for her. She won’t even speak to me right now. She already knew about the mate thing between my father and your mother but hearing that my father actually had a child… that really broke something in her.”
I cupped his face in my hands, forcing him to meet my eyes. In this mess, in all this chaos, we only had each other to hold onto. “Maybe give her time,” I whispered.
He leaned into my touch, breathing me in, and I realized how right he was earlier-this was supposed to be our honeymoon. Bella knew exactly what she was doing when she stirred up this storm, throwing our joy into disarray.
But I wasn’t about to let anyone take him from me. Just as he loved me, I knew now that I had fallen hopelessly, completely in love with him too.
“Who says we can’t continue our honeymoon?” I teased.

His eyes lit up as he stood abruptly, and I couldn’t help but laugh at his reaction. “Even at a time ike this, you want sex?” he asked, almost disbelieving.
I dragged the tip of my tongue across my lips, knowing exactly what that did to him.
“Gosh, Aina… don’t do that,” he rasped, his voice hoarse with desire.
