Their heads turned sharply to look at me-some with shock, others with confusion. Her brother gasped softly and whispered, “So it’s true.”
But I didn’t care about any of that.

I walked straight to her, where her mother knelt beside her. Lowering myself to the ground, I gently held Aina and said, “She’s in heat.”
Her mother’s eyes widened as she nodded, then said quietly, “And so are you.”
I gave her a knowing look, and right away, I caught the glint of mischief in her eyes.
Aina’s body radiated heat, like she was burning up from the inside. Just standing close to her made
it almost impossible to hold myself back.
“So she wasn’t lying when she said she was your mate?” her father asked, his voice edged with
disbelief.
I nodded as I stood, lifting her carefully into my arms.
“No, she wasn’t,” I replied.
Even though she was clearly in heat, her body trembled in my hold, She needed comfort, and everyone in that room knew I was the only one who could truly soothe her.
Her father cleared his throat awkwardly. “We’ll give you two some space. We actually had
somewhere to be,” he said, casting a look at his wife.
She gave a nod of agreement. “Yes. Josh, take your mate and let’s excuse them.”
Josh nodded, holding onto his mate protectively. Still, from the corner of my eye, I caught the way she looked at me. Despite being bonded to someone else, the pull of my scent was too much for her to ignore-it was thick in the air, overwhelming, even for the already mated.
The four of them quietly stepped out of the house, leaving just Aina and me alone.
I sat down on the couch with her in my lap, brushing her hair back gently. “Aina,” I called her name softly.
Cradling her face, I leaned in and pressed a kiss to her lips. Slowly, she stirred, responding to the
contact like she craved more. And hell, so did I. I wanted to consume her.
It was taking everything in me not to lose control.
“You’re here,” she whispered faintly.

I kissed her forehead. “Yeah. I’m sorry I was late… Damn, I even forgot the flowers in the car.”
She chuckled lightly at that, but then her expression shifted.
“I feel weird,” she murmured.
“Yeah… I know,” I said quietly. “I feel it too.”
Then I kissed her again-deeper, longer-sliding my tongue into her mouth as she eagerly met
mine. Our breaths grew heavier, ragged, syncing in the heat between us.
I was doing everything I could to restrain myself. I didn’t want to scare her.
But when she shifted on my thigh, I let out a deep growl. The pressure inside me was unbearable
now. Every nerve in my body was on fire.
My mind spun as I asked myself-am I really thinking of taking her right here…?
But no-I wasn’t going to take her. I wasn’t just some sex-starved male… but damn, when it came
