The Alpha’s Nanny (Lori and Gabriel) novel Chapter 105

Chapter 105

He took the path in the woods, a secret path that he used for his runs. The only other person who knew about it was Elliot and he doubted that the intruders knew about them. As he got closer he heard the howls of the wolves in his pack. It was not a howl of defeat, or warning, it was one of victory.

They must be winning.

Gabriel thought as he snarled in contentment. As he drew closer to the shrubs at the back of the pool house he started seeing a clear view of all of them. There were at least ten intruder wolves. At least the ones he could see. They had jumped over the gate, while another distracted his wolves with warning shots. There were at least two of his wolves standing guard at the house door in their wolf form, snarling and growling.

But there was another werewolf he could see, one that had taken the opportunity to deviate from the group and was now looking for an entrance in, seeing

his guards were preoccupied.

Gabriel snarled deeply.

Oh no. He wouldn’t let any of them get away with it.

Not

one.

Lori sat on the bare cold floor in front of Gabriel’s closet while clutching Emilia to her chest. God she was dying of curiosity but she didn’t move from her spot. The sounds she was hearing. They, they were not normal. No, they didn’t sound normal. She tried Gabriel’s number again, it just have been the tenth time but he still wasn’t picking up.

Another howl pierced the air and she squirmed. Oh god.

At this point she was convinced something weird was happening. Something unbelievably weird and strange.

Emilia was calm and drowsy, despite all the chaos and noise. Lori set her down in a makeshift bed on the floor and crawled towards the window. She had to see. Had to see for herself what was going on just before she decided to call 911.

That was smart right? That would be the smart option.

In front of the window she peeped and saw the most horrendous thing she had ever seen in her life.

Blood. Fangs. Fur.

It was a gory sight. One she could not even explain.

Wolves.

Large wolves. About three times the size of any normal wolf she could remember. Actual wolves were fighting right in front of Gabriel’s yard.

They snarled. Teeth sharp and biting, their growls sent shivers down Lori’s spine and she slightly shook in fear. They tore at each other like the animals they were, feral, rabid with the unmistakeable thirst for blood. They would all kill each other.

It was terrifying!

Chapter 105

Where? Where were all the guards?!

Did they run away? Would she have to call animal control instead?

No. These were no normal wolves.

Her jaw slacked.

What?!

But there was one, one large black wolf that looked so familiar to her. She couldn’t place it. Or decide who or what he was. But he was brutal.

He tore through the other wolves like they were rag-dolls. Some of the wolves who saw him ran away from him whimpering.

He looked like a demon. A demon wolf.

Lori was completely terrified, but still didn’t tear her eyes away from the gory sight.

The demon wolf’s hackles rose, and his muzzle curled back to expose pearl-white fangs. He had found an opponent, one nearly close to his size, a grey wolf with black stripes, eyes were liquid gold and gleaming in the dark like lamplights. His jaw was covered with blood and he seemed to tease the demon wolf

with the snarls he was making.

The demon wolf didn’t even flinch. Ears shoved forward, tail held high, he circled his opponent.

Both wolves paced stiffly, tails lashing as they waited for the other to make a move. The grey wolf kept his weight evenly on all four legs, aware of the treacherous nature of the slippery grass they stalked upon. If he set his weight wrong when he pounced, he could end up slipping and provide the one fatal opening for the other wolf to win this fight.

Lori watched in bewilderment, surprisingly finding herself rooting for the demon wolf.

The grey snapped his jaws in an attempt to startle him, but the growl in the demon wolf’s chest kept growing and he didn’t even blink.

His expression held one of amusement, almost as if he was questioning the audacity of the grey wolf to challenge him.

The growl evolved, fluctuated, and with a howl the demon wolf lunged.

Lori let out a shriek and Emilia cried out in fear.

She tore her eyes away from the window and rushed to the baby, grabbing her and rocking her. In the same breath she ran back to the window and found the grey wolf running away with it’s tail behind it’s legs, blood staining it’s grey coat in a deep dark red color. Lori didn’t think the wolf would survive. Not

with the amount of blood lost.

As the grey wolf whimpered away, a strange still silence covered the air. And Lori had the strangest feeling like it was all over. Relief washed over her but

she still looked on in fear.

Some of the wolves ran towards the gate, as if searching for more wolves to fight with.

The demon wolf stayed, turning slightly to face the house. It’s eyes looked up, they were amber gold. And they seemed to glow in the night. Even though she knew she was far away from the yard and the window blinds covered her, she still felt like the demon wolf was staring directly at her.

She stood perfectly still, watching him, never breaking eye contact and right in front of her eyes, the demon wolf started transforming.

It’s fur completely left, it’s bones cracking, limbs became hands and legs and muzzle became a face.

“Oh my God.”

Lori whimpered as the demon wolf slowly raised it’s face, still looking right at her.

Gabriel.

It was Gabriel.
