The Alpha’s Nanny (Lori and Gabriel) novel Chapter 11

**The Ocean Remembers Everything**
**By Julia Allan**
**Chapter 11**

“Suzie and Mr. Gabriel had a brief affair during one of his trips, and as a result, she found herself pregnant.”

“Even after the news of her pregnancy, they remained distant, and besides, Mr. Gabriel is hardly ever home.”

Lori nodded thoughtfully, absorbing the weight of the situation.

“It’s truly sad that the child will never have the chance to meet her mother,” Lori mused, glancing at Emilia, her heart heavy as she thought of her own son.

“She has a wonderful father, though. While it’s unfortunate, I don’t believe she will miss someone she has never known,” she replied, trying to find a silver lining.

“I suppose you’re right. But still, it’s hard to imagine she wouldn’t have loved to meet her,” Grace chimed in, her voice tinged with empathy.

The remainder of the day unfolded without any significant events. Emilia stirred awake, and Lori tenderly fed her, changing her diaper afterward. This time, she refrained from breastfeeding, a lingering fear of Grace’s judgment creeping into her thoughts.

Once Emilia was content, Lori decided to take her outside for a stroll in the garden. The fresh air seemed to invigorate the baby, her eyes wide with wonder at the fluttering leaves and chirping birds. After a delightful outing, Lori brought her back inside and gently laid her down for another nap. Finally, she seized the opportunity to shower and dress while Grace kept a watchful eye on the little one.

Descending the stairs, Lori intended to grab more storage bags for the milk she had been expressing, only to discover they had completely run out.

“Grace! We’re out of bags!” she called out, peeking into the kitchen pantry where Grace was busy taking stock of the groceries alongside Sylvia.

Grace turned from her notebook, her brow furrowed in concentration.

“Yes, I know. Sylvia and I are heading out for some pasta, so we can pick some up on our way back,” she assured Lori.

“Thank you!” Lori exclaimed, her voice brightening as she began to walk away. Then, an idea struck her, and she halted, turning back to the pantry. “Oh, could I also maybe get a tub of ice cream? I was surprised to find none in the fridge!”

Sylvia chuckled lightly at her request, while Grace shook her head, a knowing smile playing on her lips.

“I’m afraid Mr. Gabriel doesn’t have much of a sweet tooth,” she replied, but then added, “But sure, I can grab a tub of ice cream for you.”

Lori let out a relieved sigh and retreated back upstairs to her room. She had been spending her free time playing with her new phone, immersing herself in the joy of personalizing it. The thrill of acquiring something new was a sensation she hadn’t felt in ages, perhaps not even since childhood.

Reflecting on her past, she realized that she couldn’t recall ever receiving gifts, not even on her birthdays. Maybe in her younger years, yes, but as she grew older, those moments faded away.

No, not like that.

As she gazed out of her window, admiring the trees swaying gently in the breeze, something unusual caught her eye—a sudden movement in the shrubs near the house.

Lori’s heart raced, and she froze in place.

Who on earth is that?!
