The Alpha’s Nanny (Lori and Gabriel) novel Chapter 157

Chapter 157

63

Astra Barlow. That was the name of the nephilim woman that was given to her.

Astra Barlow lived in a dump, the dirty long streets deep in Denver and Lori was too tired to care. She had to see the woman, she needed her help one way

or another.

Sabine had been right about two things. That Jack was alive and that her powers were dangerous.

She still couldn’t fully believe it. That her son was alive, she couldn’t even find the appropriate emotion to describe what it was she was feeling.

Her mind was all muddled up and she knew it was directly linked to her newly found powers.

She felt like a ticking time bomb, occasionally having to keep a stoic face to keep her powers from going off at the slightest provocation.

The random bursts of power that came with an emotion was unbearable. And it had only been a few hours!

She could not, she would not live with this forever.

She couldn’t even think about Gabriel. It hurt too much whenever she tried to.

She didn’t accept Sabine’s offer. She only pretended to, for a while. Her major problem now was controlling the overflowing pit of power that was

threatening to consume her.

As much as she missed Gabriel and Emilia dearly, she knew they wouldn’t be safe around her. Just like those wolves she had killed. She prayed that at least Elliot wasn’t among them. She didn’t think he was but she also couldn’t trust herself anymore. She hoped he had gotten out of time, she had not seen him

ever since he gave her the bite.

And Lyle… wherever he was… Lori hoped he was suffering long and hard in the hands of Gabriel or whatever cruel fate he would meet.

She hoped that Gabriel was at least looking for her… because even though she knew she was meant to stay away… the thought was comforting in a way.

Lori still didn’t know why Sabine truly wanted to help her. She strangely didn’t believe she was helping herself. Sabine was not nephilim, Sabine wasn’t her, so why was she willing to protect an endangered group of supernaturals that she had never been a part of?

It was weird.

Weird to say the least but it didn’t stop Lori from following her instructions. She needed the help, too bad it was coming from her worst enemy.

In front of the red door at the back of a dirt alley Lori frantically knocked the door. She had swiped a black dirty coat from some old man and it did a lot to help the blood and muck that was covered from her from the fight.

She needed a bath. long and nice bath but that was at the bottom of her list.

She knocked again, this time with more anger and fervor and felt the hinges of the door creaking loudly.

She paused abruptly. This was how it had been for her for the last few hours. Constantly walking on eggshells around her own power.

It made her sick to the stomach.

Chapter 157

DIA

The door opened and a short woman with a deep frown stood in front of her. The woman had hazel eyes like hers and a smooth face with shortly cropped

curly hair.

She was wearing an apron over her gown.

‘Who the fuck are you and why are you trying to break my door?!”

She exclaimed and Lori sighed.

“I’m looking for Astra Barlow.”

The woman’s frown deepened.

“Who’s asking.”

“Lori. Lori Wyatt.”

“Sabine Reinhardt told me I could find you here. She said that you could help me.”

There was an uncomfortable silence as the woman peered at Lori.

“Help you how?”

She asked and Lori sighed.

“You’re just like me… you know.”

Astra shook her head.

‘I’m nothing like the likes of you!”
