Chapter 211

“What do you mean everything?! I have nothing to offer you!”
Astra spat out, confusion lacing her voice. If she could muster enough energy to at least take out the guard, then she would be free. The witch that was in the room had left moments after she came in, leaving only the three of them.
Sabine would fear her enough to run for her safety and the guard was the only one she could conveniently take out even with little power left.
She could do it.
Her eyes darted around the room again. It was stuffy, two large work tables joined together stood at the side of it. The table was strewn with herbs, twigs, potions, everything witchy.
The floor underneath her beard feet was covered in a thick rug. Sabine was across her, safely behind a table and tucked in a chair.
There were two guards guarding outside the door, she had seen them coming in, after they had taken her blindfold.
She could take them out just as easily too.
She would be out in no time and on the streets then be free from all their shenanigans. But she had to stall. Just a little longer to gather the dregs of her strength.
“Oh you would soon find out.”
Astra sighed.
“Why?”
“Why?”
Sabine repeated.
“Yes why. Why are you doing all of this? What do I have to do with your fight?”
Sabine shrugged.
“Oh don’t think too much about it. I just needed a nephilim and you were the quickest one I could find.”
“I’ve actually been monitoring you ever since Lori showed up at your doorstep. You know I led her to you right?!”
“You thought they were after only her but I wanted to keep my eyes on you too.”
So taking in Lori had been her mistake. Always has, always would be.
“For what reason?”
Astra asked and Sabine smiled.
“I’ll admit. I’ve always had some sort of fascination with your kind.”

Chapter 211
“While I might be of similar heritage with you… what I earned in comparison to your powers is merely a trickle. Probably nothing…
“And how’s that my business?!”
Astra retorted.
Sabine sighed.
“You’re right. It’s not your business.”
She murmured.
“But like I was saying… this fascination grew even more when I met Lori.”
“That weak girl killed thirty of my werewolves.”
Sabine scoffed, remembering it all again. The pile and pile of bodies…
It still made her shiver.
Astra didn’t even flinch. Lori killed all those people unintentionally. Her powers had awakened and they took a hold of her. It wasn’t her fault.
“And I was wondering… how come I didn’t get any of that?!”
Astra sighed.
How would she?
She was way more wolf than nephilim.
“Your ancestor might have not been a full nephilim. Our powers come in different levels, depending on how diluted the angel blood in us is.”
“Two nephilim would equal a stronger nephilim. One nephilim and human would equal a weak nephilim. Nephilims with human blood practically give birth
to humans.”
Astra explained.
Sabine tilted her head as she nodded in agreement.
“Interesting…”
“So.. that would mean Lori is a full nephilim…”
Astra shrugged.
She didn’t know who Lori’s father was. So she couldn’t make that assumption but it was very possible.
“And her son… is only half.”
