The other ran towards her and Astra swerved, making a run for it.
The hallway was long and narrow, but she couldn’t see any more guards and there was a stairway. They would chase her, that she knew. They would be
faster than her too.
She had to make sure they wouldn’t follow her.
She turned and threw a punch to her nearest assailant. The man threw back one of his own, Astra tried as much as possible to avoid it but the punch landed on her jaw. The pain stung for seconds before it went away.
She didn’t let it deter her as she attacked again.
Behind her, she could see a figure approaching. It was the witch that left the room before. Astra tried to stay out of her way while fighting the two guards in front of her but she felt weak.
Her powers dwindling.
The witch suddenly grabbed her hand and Astra hissed at the contact.
The burn!
What was that?!
She turned to the woman and before she knew it a dark object in the shape of a handcuff was clamped to her wrist.
The witch stared at her. She had serpent eyes. Unnaturally yellow and slitted. Astra sneered at her but the witch didn’t bulge. She slowly removed her palm from hers and Astra saw the tattoo underneath.
It was the tattoo of an eye with a pentagon.
Great.
She had never encountered so much black magic and dark objects in her life till Sabine had kidnapped her.
What exactly was this woman planning and why did she have so many dark objects?
And what was a witch doing with an alpha?
Clearly she was without a coven and also practicing forbidden magic.
“What makes a witch fraternize with a wolf.”
She asked angrily as she was dragged back into the room where Sabine was seated waiting for her.
She had a smug look on her face. Astra felt like clawing the smugness off her face. If she managed to come inches close to her, she would rip out her face
with her bare teeth.
“Business is business. Regardless of the kind.”

The witch whispered. Her voice was deep. So deep and gruff that she couldn’t recognize where her accent would be from.
“Bullshit.”
Astra spat out.
“You must be a traitor. Practicing black magic and consorting yourself with the likes of her.”
“She’d betray you. I promise you she will. She betrays all who work for her. You’re next.”
The witch seemed to ponder on Astra’s words. Then she finally smiled and turned to Sabine.
“Feisty isn’t she?”
Sabine nodded, a smirk on her face.
“She is. Is it ready?”
The witch nodded.
“I was bringing it up for you.”
She muttered as she reached into her coat.
“What?! What are you doing?!!”
Astra started stammering. Fear clogging her voice.

“Relax. Just a little experiment. If it works… you’d be lucky to not have another trial. If it doesn’t… well you can expect more trials and I doubt they’d be painless.”
Her eyes met with Sabine.
“What are you trying to do?”
She asked as calmly as she could muster.
Sabine was silent for a while before standing up from her chair.
She was dressed so casually no one would every suspect the kind of monster she was. Stir pink cashmere sweater and small white shorts.
