Chapter 228
She pleaded.
“If I go outside I’ll hurt people. Leave me here.”
She plied his hands away from her, the effort alone took more concentration than anything she had ever concentrated on.
It was a fight. A struggle for her body and her inner strength to not hurt him.
Or let the rage completely take over.
She had to fight it. One way. Or another.
An idea formed in her head and she stretched out her hand.
“What?!”
(18)
Gabriel asked. His face was covered in anguish, seeing her fight so hard to rein in her emotions reminded him of how he once had to be locked up while he was turning. It was a long time ago but he still remembered how much he hated the feeling.
Pain. I need to feel pain….”
‘I’m not hurting you Lori.”
Lori threw her head backwards. She was gritting her teeth so hard he was sure it had to hurt.
“You have to.”
Her voice broke. It sounded as if she was close to tears.
“It’s the only way.”
She murmured.
How?
Pain?
Hurting her was the last thing on his mind but Gabriel sooner realized they were running out of choices and time. With voices of people drawing nearer and the two of them in the bathroom, people would begin to suspect where they had gone and what was going on.
“Okay.”
He gulped hard as he unleashed his own claws.
Quick and fast, he swiped at her wrists, a sharp deep line formed as Lori hissed.
But as fast as the line came it went. She was healing rapidly. Too fast. It had barely taken a minute for it to close up.

Chapter 228
“That won’t work. You’re healing too fast.”
He murmured and Lori sighed.
“Whatever you do. Don’t let me out of here..”
She murmured.
Gabriel nodded.
He held her arms tightly, more fearful about her hurting herself than him.
“The amulet. It did nothing?!”
Gabriel said in disgust and Lori shook her head as she clenched and unclenched her jaws.
“This is not a dark object…”
“But still…”
He trailed off.
At least two women walked into the bathroom around that moment. They both stayed silent.
Whoever it was didn’t sound like they had come to use the bathroom.
Sabine?!
Gabriel thought as he made a move to stand up.
Lori held him down, her claws digging into his shoulder, much harder than she had intended.
She didn’t even notice what she was doing until she pulled her claws away and saw blood on them
Slowly they heard the retreating footsteps of whoever it was and Lori heaved a sigh.
Stay.
She said through the bond.
I will fight through this.
She whispered.
Gabriel nodded.
Okay,
I need you to do something for me.

Chapter 228
She asked again.
Ask anything of me.
Gabriel answered.
I need a distraction… I need to focus on something else… somewhere else… my mind needs to be occupied.
Gabriel nodded. There was a way but he wasn’t sure they had reached that peak yet.
It could work. It had to work one way or another.
There were times mating bonds were so strong that mates could share memories. They could be so in tune with each other that they could let each other into their heads. Not only the part where they hear each other’s thoughts, but they part where they truly have a glimpse of each other’s minds.
Gabriel pulled Lori into a hug, despite her wings getting in his face and the tiny suffocating bathroom stall, he pulled her close into a bone crushing hug. And just like he would talk to her through his thoughts, he did the same thing… except this time he sent images through the bond.
Glimpses really.
Of what he imagined of her. And their future together.
What he wanted for the both of them.
How he wanted it to all happen.
And for a long time they both lay there on the bathroom floor.
Lost in time.
With the two of them there was no concept of time. There was no bathroom stall, no dark magic coursing through her veins willing her to destroy people,
no alpha’s summit. There was none.
Just the two of them.
