Chapter 251
Instinctively she checked the bag, saw the phone and the crumpled envelope.
She had been inclined to dismiss it before the name on the front of the envelope caught her eye.
Axel.
She left it there at first, giving Gabriel his phone.
Few moments later she went back to the gym bag and she dug out the envelope and read the contents.
A dinner and a proposal for an alliance.
Gabriel didn’t tell her anything about it.
Why?!
She thought as she pocketed the envelope in the folds of her pajamas. She had later hid it inside her bedside drawer.
It had been on her mind ever since then and for some reason she didn’t ask Gabriel why he didn’t talk to her about it. Besides, they had spent a lot of hours apart after that, so she couldn’t bring it up properly because of his busy schedule.
The preparations for the Luna rites drew closer and all week he had been attending the meetings. He also spent ample time in the office, conducting interviews for the new position that was about to open up in the company since he was taking a step back from the day to day running of the company.
He had come back home so exhausted on some days that Lori couldn’t even dare to bring it up.
She knew he was being cautious, that was why he wouldn’t work with Axel.
But it was a chance to bring down Sabine and if Axel would be able to help them, she didn’t see a problem in it.
Even though the time for a reply had expired, she wondered what would happen if she reached out to him privately, for a better understanding of his terms.
She dismissed the thought as quickly as it came into her mind.
Gabriel would be furious if he learnt that she was consorting with Axel behind his back.
It was best to bring it up with him and try to coax him to at least hear out Axel’s side.
“I cannot believe this.”
Sabine whispered as she slammed her phone on the table. She was in the dining room, where she had just finished eating dinner with Axel. It was the first time they were having dinner together.
The chef had made turkey, now the contents of the meal was beginning to turn in her stomach as she thought about the annoyed state the call she had
made had left her.

Axel raised his eyebrow while glancing at her.
“They got to Caddel. He tells me our alliance is over and I shouldn’t expect his help anymore.”
Axel scoffed.
“I’m assuming they have something to do with that.”
“You did expect them to fight back didn’t you?”
Sabine shook her head.
“No. Not this way. I’ve lost everything.”
She murmured and Axel shrugged.
“Not everything. You still have the boy. You have me.”
Sabine hesitated.
The boy.
“But my pack… my people.. it seems Lori is planning to execute them all.”
Axel waved his hands.
“That’s just an empty threat. I refuse to believe Gabriel Caine would let her do that. He’s too self righteous.”
Sabine was not convinced. The manner in which the switch had begun, how everything had started happening all at once, losing her properties, her accounts being frozen, her people being kidnapped, her alliance with George Caddel being called off, they were not playing games with her.
“Lori isn’t. And you know he’d do whatever she wants. She is bloodthirsty.”
Axel scoffed.
“Can’t blame her. She wants her son back.”
Sabine glared at Axel,
“Who’s side are you on?!”
Axel smirked.
“The winning side obviously. We have what matters, every other thing doesn’t.”
Sabine didn’t reply. That was easy for him to say since he had lost nothing.
She was entirely left in his mercy. He could kick her out and take the boy, or even kill her, there was nothing stopping him.
Now that she had nothing. Nothing and the fact that she was in his house with no protection of her own. Surrounded in the middle of trees, trees and more

trees.

She was entirely dependent on him.
“So what do we do now?”
She asked and Axel shrugged.
“Nothing. We wait it all out then commence with plans of our own.”
Sabine raised her eyebrow.
“What plans?”
They had barely spoken after she had arrived at his place, even though she had asked him for an audience many times. He was never home and she wasn’t allowed to leave.
She was beginning to think allying with him was the worst idea she had ever had. She was practically a prisoner in his home.
“The boy of course. He’s valuable, his blood is hot commodity right now. I have a few interested buyers.”
Sabine’s face paled at the thought of what Axel was insinuating.
“Maybe not now. He’s still a baby after all. Let’s wait.”
Axel scoffed.
“I’m afraid my clients are impatient. But I’ll see what I can do. Angel’s blood is pretty rare commodity so you can imagine their excitement.”
Sabine smiled uneasily.
“Yes. If you’ll excuse me.”
She murmured as she hurriedly left.
