And she smelled wolf too.
The woman bowed.
‘Alpha Caine. It is an honor.”

She said and Gabriel nodded, Luco must have told her who he was. And he was also relieved that he had quickly signaled Luco not to give him the same
treatment in front of Lori.
‘Mrs Chrissy Garcia. I’m sorry we haven’t been privileged to meet earlier.”
“My name is Gabriel Caine.”
He said and the woman shrugged. Even though she looked somewhat excited to see him, he could tell she was still slightly confused that he would visit her.
“I knew your daughter. Suzie.”
The woman paled.
‘I only recently heard about her death. You see, Suzie and I weren’t close.”
Gabriel knew.
‘I know. Unfortunately she didn’t tell me anything about you.”
“I’m here to introduce someone to you Mrs Garcia.”
He said as he glanced at the baby carrier in his hand.
The woman looked at the car seat and grew still.
‘Suzie, she died during childbirth.”
Mrs Garcia gasped.
“This is her daughter, Emilia Susannah.”
Gabriel said as he removed the blanket that covered the baby carrier, showing Emilia to her grandmother.
The woman gasped again, tears pooling in her eyes as she leaned in.
“Come in! Oh please come in!”
She said as she pointed to her house.
Gabriel nodded and followed her lead.
The house was even worse than he had imagined. Small, unorganized, with a musky smell.
‘I’m sorry for the mess.”

The woman pleaded as she dusted a sofa for him to sit down. Gabriel did, while dropping the baby carrier in front of him. Emilia was still sleeping, good.
The woman rushed inside, then came out with what seemed to be a photo album Gabriel had no idea why she brought it out, but she should probably know he wasn’t there to check pictures. He had more pressing matters.
“She looks so much like Suzie when she was younger! See?!”
The woman said as she flipped the pages of the photo album to show a baby picture of Suzie.
Gabriel looked at it and nodded. Yes, he could see the resemblance.
“I can see the resemblance.”
The woman nodded, then sat across from him, Luco stood guard at the door.
“Mrs Garcia, Suzie never talked about you and it was very hard finding you because of your pack…”
He started.
“Yes. My pack is the Lightpaw pack, we have been fighting internal conflicts for years now and it has taken a great toll on us.”
“It was one of the reasons Suzie left. That and the fact that I lied to her about who her birth father was…”
Hmmm.
Gabriel nodded.
*Suzie was a difficult child. We didn’t really get along and I had her when I was so young so I made so many mistakes… I tried so many times to reach out and apologize to her after everything that happened but she didn’t reply.”
“I’m sorry… sorry about that.”
‘How did you two meet?’
She asked and Gabriel shrugged.
‘Oh, at an alpha’s convention. We actually didn’t know each other well, we had yy brief fling and you see, one thing led to another.”
‘Oh.’
The woman said and Gabriel nodded.
