Chapter 407
“Laila…” He said, reverence in her voice.
At once, he pulled me to him, rolled me over, and we made love again.
In the morning, we confirmed with the researchers that such a thing was possible. Though it had never really been done before quite this way. Typically political marriages were made with members of the family, not the Alphas themselves, and led to alliances and partnerships, not the actual combination of two packs together. But they were confident it could be done
And I was insistent that it had to be, because I would not rule this pack without Jason, nor would I allow Jason to give up his own pack for me, despite his willingness.
With the researchers assurances, Jason and I held hands and went to find Ava. She was in the middle of
her lessons, but the moment she spotted Jason through the open door, she jumped out of her seat and ran right into the hallway. Jason opened his arms, accepting her hug.
They clung to each other. Ava cried, and Jason kissed her forehead.
“I’m never leaving again,” he promised.
“We’re going to be a family now?” Ava asked, hope raw in her voice.
“Now and forever.”
Ava eventually had to return to her classes, so Jason and I went outside.
“We should go for a run,” he said. “You and me, in our wolf forms. You got the cure, didn’t you?”
“I did,” I said. “But…”
He looked at me, curious by my hesitation.
“I haven’t shifted yet,” I said, embarrassed.
“Why?” he asked.
“I don’t know… When I’ve shifted in the past, it had only been in moments of duress. I’m scared that if I shift now, what if I lose control?”
