Chapter 110
Even with close friends, Nicole kept things clear. She agreed right away. “Alright. I’ll trade you for it when the time comes.”
She shut the door, took Cola with her into her storage space, and headed straight for a hot shower. The smell of fish clung to her skin. She couldn’t stand it.
Cola had been in here a few times already. By now, he acted like he belonged.
The moment he spotted the pile of fish, his eyes
lit up.
So much food!
He couldn’t count, but to him, it looked like a whole mountain. He figured it was enough to last forever
with his human.
Nicole felt the same way. There were many ways to cook fish. She could take her time figuring it out
later.
They were both exhausted.
After the shower, the two of them sat there while sipping hot chicken broth, grinning like idiots.
Snowy waddled over, belly heavy, and settled quietly beside Nicole.
Nicole rubbed her round stomach. The second litter would probably be a big one.
Cola bared his teeth just a little, giving her a warning look. Once those babies were born, he was claiming
them as snacks.
They were worn out, so they didn’t head out early the next morning.
Hughie swapped in for Jeremy. Beatrice stayed behind again to watch Poppy, restless and frustrated. Sitting out made her feel like she wasn’t pulling her weight.
No one knew how Zeph pulled it off, but the fishing device was fully charged again.
Everyone was curious, but no one asked. If you wanted to survive, you learned when to keep your mouth
shut.
Gordon’s group had made it clear. They would take as much as they could get. So today, they were going all in.
Worried Zeph might be overloaded, Nicole slung her own motorboat over her shoulder.
It had an engine, so it wasn’t exactly light. Derek frowned when he saw it and stepped in. “I’ll take that.”
Nicole didn’t argue.
Derek, Victor, and Hughie rotated carrying it as they made their way over the hills. By the time they

reached the reservoir, the water level had risen again.
No one held back. They ate until they were full before getting to work.

Especially the Goodmans. After finally getting real food in their system, they looked less worn down.
It was the same setup as before. Zeph and Victor ran the device, while Nicole and the others spread out
to collect.
Victor had stayed up all night making two nets, instantly boosting their fishing efficiency.
Cola stared at him, eyes dark.
Damn it. There went his human’s chance to quietly stash fish again.
The look was so intense that it gave Victor chills. He glanced at Zeph. “Why does your dog keep staring
at me?”
Zeph didn’t even look up. “If you weren’t staring at him, how would you know he’s staring at you?”
Victor had no comeback.
Fine. He would just focus on the fish.
With yesterday’s experience, everyone moved faster. In about two hours, they had already pulled in close to 2,000 pounds.
They were just about to keep going when Cola suddenly snapped upright.
“Woof!”
He faced the distance, his body tense, his eyes sharp.
Nicole raised the binoculars. “Damn it. We’ve got company.”
There were a lot of them, maybe 30 people. They had found the reservoir, too.
“Someone’s there! They’re fishing!”
“What do we do?” Lydia’s voice tightened. “They spotted us.”
Nicole stayed calm. “They catch theirs. We catch ours.”
There was no way they could run, not carrying this much fish.
The group closed in fast. They had an inflatable raft and even two motorboats. A quick count put them at over 30. They were probably a team out scavenging for supplies.
