Chapter 184
If anything went wrong, Zeph would take the hit first. Nicole didn’t rush to speak.
Zeph stayed calm. “I am the master of my fate.”
Wrapped in her scarf, Nicole nearly lost it.
The guard smelled faintly of alcohol and didn’t want trouble. He waved them through without much thought.
Liora Estates was huge. Getting inside was one thing, but which building was Luke in?
Nicole thought for a second and quickly locked onto a target.
A guy who loved throwing birthday parties had to love attention. The main building would be the most obvious place. It had to be the centerpiece, the most luxurious tower.
She looked up and spotted it right away.
People were coming and going nonstop. The women were striking, the men well-dressed. They clearly weren’t ordinary.
Compared to them, Nicole and Zeph looked underdressed. And with guards posted at the entrance, blending in wouldn’t be easy.
The worst thing was that the party required invitations.
Zeph observed from the shadows and noticed the invitations were also lines of poetry. There were repeats, too, which meant they were likely assigned by group.
Nicole almost laughed. The boss really had a thing for poetry.
First, they needed an invitation. Then, they needed to get inside.
Nicole stepped into a quiet corner, slipped off her coat, and changed into a fur coat.
Seeing Zeph didn’t have anything suitable, she pulled out a heavy military-style coat from her storage
space.
It was the largest size she had.
It fit him well enough, giving him a sharp silhouette.
Most guests had companions. To avoid suspicion, they had to look like a couple.
Nicole looped her arm through his, softening her posture and leaning into him, playing the part of a harmless, charming partner.
Zeph noticed the tension in her body. “Relax. I’m not taking advantage of you.”
Wait. He noticed?

It wasn’t that bad. She was used to being close to him during training. Otherwise, it would’ve been worse.
To sell it, Nicole took a breath, smiled, and leaned in closer, matching his pace.
They approached the entrance.
“Group six,” Zeph said. “Hope is the thing with feathers.”
Perfect.
They were let in.
The doors opened, and a wave of heat hit them.
Nicole nearly choked. She hadn’t expected full heating inside.
At the entrance stood attendants. The women were curvy, the men built, all dressed in revealing outfits.
Nicole blinked, stunned, just as a couple ahead of them walked out of a changing room. The woman looked stunning, while the man was bald, with a noticeable belly.
Nicole, still in her fur coat, froze.
Damn it. This was a bikini party.
No wonder it had seemed so quiet outside. Even if you got in, you couldn’t do much. There was nowhere to hide anything.
What now?
Backing out would only make things worse.
One of the attendants handed them locker keys and led them toward the changing area.
“This way, please. Pick your outfit, change, then take the elevator to the 28th floor. Leave your weapons
in the locker. No carrying anything on you. That’s strictly enforced.”
The changing room wasn’t separated. Rows of minimal outfits hung neatly.
Nicole flipped through them, speechless.
They weren’t even new. Most had clearly been worn before.
So this wasn’t a one-time thing. The boss really loved these parties.
