The Apocalypse Survival Manual (Three Days Before Doomsday, I Stockpiled Billions) novel Chapter 261

Chapter 261

The supervisors kept persuading Hughie’s group to stay another two days.

After everything they had already survived, two extra days didn’t seem like a big deal.

Then the extreme heat hit out of nowhere. 1

The weather was brutally hot. Just climbing the stairs left them drenched in sweat.

When they reached the 17th floor, Nicole and the rest happened to run into Lydia stepping out of her apartment and learned she had quit, too.

The corpse disposal teams didn’t just collect bodies. They handled daily garbage cleanup as well. Now that the floodwaters had returned, everything had shut down again.

Everyone suddenly realized they would be living alongside rotting trash and foul smells from now on.

Hearing the commotion, Cola wagged his tail and hurried downstairs to greet his humans, whining the whole way excitedly.

After getting home, Nicole tossed the motorboat into the storage space, rinsed it thoroughly with clean water, and left it to dry before washing herself from head to toe. 1

That evening, they had just finished dinner at Zeph’s apartment when someone knocked on the door. 1

Before Zeph could even react, Poppy jumped up, switched off the air cooler, shoved it aside, and hurried

to hide it.

Nicole was instantly speechless.

Zeph had taught her well. Poppy was getting sneakier by the day.

Apparently, hiding the cooler wasn’t enough. She even ran over and opened the windows so the hot air outside could pour in.

Poppy blinked seriously. “Shh, Nicole. We can’t let Jeremy and the others know we have an air cooler.”

Nicole nearly laughed. “Good girl.”

The little girl then turned to Cola and warned him, too. “Cola, you can’t tell anybody either.”

Hughie’s group had come over looking for survival advice. They also brought a five-pound bag of dog food as payment for the motorboat fuel.

Nicole hadn’t planned to accept it, but Beatrice insisted. In the end, Cola dragged the bag happily to his side with his teeth.

While the three of them had been working security patrols, the 18th floor had been defended entirely by Nicole and Zeph.

Not helping gather supplies for the extreme heat left them feeling genuinely guilty.

Nicole waved it off casually. “It’s nothing. I was already collecting supplies for myself anyway, so I grabbed extra for you while I was at it. Everything was barter trade. If you want it, take it. If not, I can always trade it to someone else.”

Of course, they wanted it.

Honestly, they were more worried that the supplies wouldn’t be enough.

The top floor was unbearably hot, so the group started discussing how to survive the escalating disasters.

Southern coastal summers were already miserable under normal circumstances. The humid sauna-like heat alone was enough to break people. Now, they were facing unknown extreme heat conditions on top

of that.

Nicole suggested, “Now that everyone’s back, how about we shut off power to the elevators? We can use the extra electricity for fans or portable refrigerators instead.” 1

Hughie’s group immediately agreed.

After nearly a year of surviving disasters, they had gained a lot more confidence in themselves.

If some idiot tried charging onto the eighteenth floor now, Nicole and Zeph probably wouldn’t even need

to lift a finger.

“What about showers?”

The moment the weather heated up, people started sweating even while breathing. Bathing became

urgent, fast.

Nicole crushed their hopes immediately. “Forget showers. Just wipe yourselves down with water every

day.”

The 12 water tanks split among them worked out to roughly four tons per person.

Once that was gone, it was gone.

The city would probably figure out some way to filter water eventually, but there was no way they could supply an entire city properly.

And even if they could, where would the water source come from?

Anyone with half a brain knew the answer.

The real question was whether anyone actually dared use or drink it.

Nicole definitely didn’t. 1

“No showers” sounded miserable Everyone would stink sooner or later.

But if things truly reached that point, they would have no choice but to adapt.
