The Apocalypse Survival Manual (Three Days Before Doomsday, I Stockpiled Billions) novel Chapter 331

Chapter 331

At that distance…

Zeph’s expression tightened.

Nicole walked over. “What is it?”

“We’re being watched.”

The cruiser was anchored too close to shore. At that range, it could easily run aground, and turning it around would be difficult. No experienced sailor would anchor there unless they had a reason to monitor the area in secret.

If the ship had been farther out, even night-vision binoculars wouldn’t have been enough.

Nicole took out her binoculars. “How many?”

Zeph didn’t answer. He kept his gaze locked on the opposite shoreline, scanning the darkness for where they were hiding.

For most people, it would have been difficult.

But for Zeph, it was routine. Years of dealing with dangerous criminals had trained him to pick out hiding spots quickly and judge them accurately.

His eyes were sharp.

He found them soon enough, but he didn’t move right away. He checked the area again and again, making sure there were no other positions before speaking.

“Submachine gun.”

A handgun didn’t have the range or stopping power.

Nicole took out the weapon. “Can you hit them from here?”

Zeph fitted the suppressor. “I’ll try.”

“How many?”

“Two.”

Two people. Most likely, scouts sent to watch who came for the cruiser.

They wouldn’t leave easily. Nicole couldn’t store the ship while they were still watching. If the secret of her storage space was exposed, the consequences would be severe.

Luckily, they had been careful. The darkness covered them, and from that distance, the watchers could only see the ship and not where they were inside it.

But could Zeph really make the shot? He was good, but it was still a long shot.

Nicole held her breath, afraid of distracting him.

Zeph steadied his aim and fired. The suppressor kept the sound low, but her heart still jumped.

A second later, he fired again.

Three minutes passed before Zeph lowered the gun. “Store the ship.”

Nicole pulled both herself and the cruiser into her storage space.

The moment they entered, her body pitched forward.

Zeph caught her, his voice tense. “What happened?”

Her vision spun, his figure blurring in front of her. She slumped into his arms and took a moment to steady herself.

“I’m fine. It’s just too big. It almost drained me.”

She had worried earlier that it might not fit. She hadn’t expected to barely manage it.

Zeph carried her to the bed, grabbed an energy drink from the bag, and opened it for her.

After finishing it, Nicole ate two pieces of chocolate and muttered, “Still not as good as the one you gave me,’

Zeph smiled. “There should be more. I’ll find it another time.”

Once Nicole recovered a bit, she took out the inflatable raft. “I don’t know if anyone noticed. We need to move.”
