The Apocalypse Survival Manual (Three Days Before Doomsday, I Stockpiled Billions) novel Chapter 332

Chapter 332

Following the direction of the shots, Zeph pushed through the brush and found two bodies on the ground.

Nicole shone her flashlight over them and saw a single red mark between each man’s brows.

From the way they had fallen, one had been dropped instantly. The other had tried to get up and run.

He had been quick, but not quicker than Zeph.

A clean headshot in total darkness. What kind of aim was that? And he had been steady the whole time, while she had been worrying for nothing.

The night was so dark that she could barely see her own hand. It was perfect for killing and making bodies disappear.

Zeph dragged the bodies to the water and let the sea take them, then wiped away any traces before carrying Nicole on his back and continuing up the slope.

They finally reached the coastal road, but Nicole didn’t get down right away.

She tilted her head and pressed a kiss to his cheek. “Thanks for tonight.”

Without him, there was no way she could have taken that cruiser.

Zeph paused. “Do we really need to thank each other?”

Nicole smiled and said nothing more. She took the car out of her storage space.

Her whole body felt drained in a way she couldn’t quite describe. She slid into the passenger seat and ate an energy

bar.

Zeph leaned over and fastened her seat belt.

On the way back, they kept the same routine. One drove, while the other kept watch.

Only after passing the villa district’s security checkpoint did Nicole finally relax. “I’m exhausted. I’m gonna sleep

for a bit.”

By the time they parked at the top of the hill, she was already fast asleep.

Zeph turned off the engine and carried her out of the car.

Cola came over, tail wagging, letting out low whines as he looked up at her.

Zeph made a quiet gesture. “She’s fine. Just sleeping.”

Nicole woke later to sunlight filtering through the curtains.

Out of habit, she turned over and ran into a solid chest. She shot upright and almost pulled a knife before realizing it was Zeph.

He really knew how far to push things.

Zeph was a light sleeper. The moment she moved, he opened his eyes. “What’s wrong?”

What was wrong?

Nicole put the knife back into her storage space. “Why are you sleeping here?”

“It was late. I didn’t want anything happening to you.”

Didn’t want anything happening? With him in her bed, it would be a miracle if nothing happened. ?

Good thing he hadn’t tried anything, or she would have knocked him out cold.

In the extreme heat, the sun rose early, and the light was harsh. It was barely past 6 a.m., yet the air already felt like noon.

With the air conditioner running, the room was still bearable. The moment Nicole opened the balcony door for some air, though, the heat hit her like a wall.

She checked the thermometer. It was 138 degrees.

It wasn’t just hot. It was suffocating.

She shut the door and turned back to the air conditioning.

A new day started with milk, sandwiches, and fried eggs. The two little ones ate happily.

Nicole drank her milk and asked, “Are we still handing over the rest of the medicine?”

Before the trade, they had agreed that if the other side tried to track them or play tricks, the deal would be off.

Zeph thought for a moment. “We give it to them.”

First, he didn’t want Sven caught in the middle. Second, Seaborn Base had already crossed the line. If they lost the ship, lost their people, and still didn’t get the medicine, there was no telling what they might do when cornered.

There was no reason to stir up more trouble over 14 insulin pens.

Even though Seaborn Base had broken the agreement, Nicole thought it through and agreed with him.
