The Apocalypse Survival Manual (Three Days Before Doomsday, I Stockpiled Billions) novel Chapter 336

Chapter 336

Nicole hadn’t liked it, but she and Zeph went out almost every day.

If the guards decided to make things difficult, or worse, let refugees in to cause trouble, the losses would far outweigh the inconvenience.

ว

That wasn’t an exaggeration. Two weeks earlier, one household had already been wiped out.

The intruders had come and gone, as if they belonged there. The doors and windows were untouched, yet every supply inside had been cleared out. The owners didn’t wake until noon the next day, only to find an empty house.

No one was fooled. It had been an inside job. There was no way security hadn’t been involved.

But what could they do? There were no police anymore. When they tried to argue with the guards, they were thrown out.

Luckily, Nicole had always been careful. She had set up an electric fence around the villa. Whenever the guards offered to help move supplies or showed unusual enthusiasm, she had turned them down.

You never really saw what was in a person’s heart. In a world like this, trusting too easily was no different from walking into a trap.

Besides, Ronnie had mentioned earlier that his whole family had died during the deep freeze. Where did this old mother come from?

As for children to feed, that might be true.

Nicole had heard he was involved with a widow from the fishing village. Sometimes, he brought half a pound of salt or a few ounces of dried goods to trade for company, and the woman changed every time.

Hearing him beg now, Nicole felt nothing. 1

There were only three empty seats left in the pod. Outside, more than a hundred people were fighting for a chance

to live. 1

Who should she choose? Who should she leave behind?

If she opened the hatch, she might not just lose three seats. She might lose everything, even her life.

No matter how they begged or what they offered, she didn’t move.

Fifty thousand pounds of grain sounded tempting, but you had to stay alive to use it.

And why should she give a chance to someone who had kicked his own wife and child aside when things went bad?

The waves were closing in. When the hatch still didn’t open, the crowd’s desperation turned to anger.

They were all human. Why should a sheet of glass decide who lived and who died?

Rage spread through the crowd. They began pounding on the hatch.

Someone grabbed a baseball bat and slammed it against the glass. “Open the door! If we’re dying, you’re coming with us!”

“That’s right! Nobody walks away!”

The bat rose and fell again and again, striking the glass without pause.

Cola bared his teeth, ready to leap out and tear into them, but Zeph held him firmly in place.

Poppy had never seen faces like this before. Fear crept into her voice. “Zeph.”

Zeph spoke softly, slipping a piece of candy into her mouth, “It’s okay. Don’t be scared.”

Nicole didn’t react to the chaos outside. The pod’s glass was aerospace-grade. A baseball bat would do nothing Even a sledgehammer would struggle to make a dent.

That was what high-end manufacturing looked like. Built to withstand impact.

Plus, the glass had three layers. Even if they somehow cracked the first, two more remained. It would take hours to break through.

“Damn it!”

The crowd grew even more desperate. If they couldn’t break it open, they would push it off the roof.

If they couldn’t get in, then no one would survive!

For the first time, they moved as one, pushing together to shove the pod off the rooftop.
