Chapter 361
There were no surveillance cameras in the apartment, probably because Ironvale Base didn’t have the equipment or the people to run them.
They gave the smaller room to Poppy.
Nicole crouched down and said, “Cola, you’re in charge of watching her.”
“Woof!” Cola took the assignment without hesitation.
Nicole and Zeph took the master bedroom and started getting settled.
Using the bathroom as an excuse, they slipped into the storage space. Zeph spoke first. “What do you think of Felix?” 1
Nicole let out a cold laugh. “All flash, no substance.”
Just another ruthless thug, using the apocalypse to build power, trying to dress himself up as something above the street muscle, and ending up looking like a joke.
“They’ve got no humanity left. We need to keep Poppy safe.”
Nicole had suspected it before, but today confirmed it. A man who could hand out girls barely in their teens like that wasn’t just corrupt. He was rotten to the core.
Zeph looked at her. “Were they pretty?”
Nicole blinked. “What?”
“The women.”
“I didn’t notice.” Zeph met her eyes. “Did you?”
Nicole shot him a look. “Neither did I.”
She meant it. Once those women ended up here, their fate was obvious. As another woman, she couldn’t just ignore that.
If he could hand over more than a dozen at once, how many more were there in the base?
They had enough supplies coming in every day to support hundreds, even thousands.
On the way in, she had seen several large warehouses and more than a dozen cargo trucks. That was Ironvale’s real foundation.
Zeph thought it over. “Do you think Felix is afraid of dying?”
Nicole smirked. “Anyone in power is, but I’ve never seen a director that cautious.”
The man had security scanners, armed guards at the gate, and even a bulletproof vest under his sleepwear.
A guilty conscience made him jump at shadows.
Felix wasn’t just afraid of dying. The second they walked in, he was already trying to drive a wedge between them, thinking he was being clever when he wasn’t.
With someone like that in charge, it wasn’t hard to guess what the rest of the leadership looked like. Everything was built on shared interests.

After a moment, Nicole asked, “What about Drakehold Base?”
Zeph had taken part in the operation that wiped them out in his previous life, though he hadn’t stayed for the aftermath. He still knew the basics.
